The Eagles are flying no more. Their reign at the top of the NFL has come to an end as a new champion is set to be crowned at the Super Bowl. Philadelphia exited the playoffs in the first round after making it all the way, and fans aren’t happy with how the season went. OC Kevin Patullo is getting heat for his performance, but a few Eagles legends came to his defense.
Eagles Legends Have Kevin Patullo’s Back
Patullo took over the offensive coordinator role for the 2025 season after previous OC Kellen Moore left to take the Saints’ head coach job. HC Nick Sirianni brought in Patullo to fill big shoes, and he didn’t live up to the job. The Eagles’ roster didn’t change much, but the offense took a significant step back and looked out of sorts.
Many fans and analysts called for Patullo to be fired and the Eagles to spend a second-straight offseason looking for an offensive coordinator. Former Eagles QB Donovan McNabb made it clear that he wants Patullo to be given a chance to succeed in his first season and get another opportunity to work with Jalen Hurts and the offense.
“Jalen has had four or five offensive coordinators since entering the league — and eight or nine since he stepped on Alabama’s campus. How do you develop as a quarterback when you’re constantly learning a new offense?” said McNabb.

Hurts was the Super Bowl MVP when they decimated the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. He looked nothing like a Super Bowl MVP in 2025 and wasn’t the electric playoff performer that he can be against the 49ers. The Eagles’ offense finished 16th in PFSN’s Offense Impact score with a grade of 74.6.
McNabb wasn’t the only Philadelphia legend to come to Patullo’s defense. Super Bowl champion Jason Kelce is a big fan of Patullo and wants him to stick around.
“I love Kevin Patullo. I know he’s a great coach,” said Kelce.

Kelce blamed the execution of the players and the play on the field for the disappointing season. It is fair to spread some of the blame to the players, but all parties are responsible for the team’s shortcomings. Patullo’s job security will be one to monitor over the next few days, as he could quickly find himself looking for a new job.
