Russell Wilson Addresses Injury Controversy As NFL Analyst Hints at Giants Getting Investigated by NFL

Russell Wilson clears the air on his injury as an NFL analyst hints the Giants could face league scrutiny over player health handling.

One day after the conclusion of the New York Giants’ 2025-26 season, quarterback Russell Wilson has the team between a rock and a hard place. The Giants dealt with injuries all season long, with several key players, including Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo, Malik Nabers, and Kayvon Thibodeaux, all missing time.

With their young stars in and out of the lineup, veterans like the one-time Super Bowl champion Wilson were called upon for relief. However, Wilson, too, dealt with injury, and it may now be getting the G-men into trouble.

Russell Wilson Admits Playing Hurt as Giants Injury Fallout Grows

In Week Two, the Giants traveled to Dallas to play the Cowboys in an electrifying contest. The game went into overtime, where Dallas narrowly prevailed with a score of 40-37.

The barnburner of a tilt saw Wilson boast 450 passing yards and three touchdowns, but despite his vintage performance, there was an underlying issue. In the final practice leading up to the divisional contest, Wilson suffered a torn hamstring in practice, something he kept under wraps.

The news was released during the Giants’ annual locker room cleanout day and is now causing great concern for the Giants. As the club began to receive criticism, the veteran gunslinger took to X in an attempt to defend the franchise.

In his X post, Wilson admits it was his own decision to keep his injury a secret. “Not the Giants’ fault,” said Wilson. “They didn’t know because I didn’t want to tell anyone because of the circumstances. I just had to play through it and try to go ball that day! Thought we were going to win that wild, crazy game!”

Whether or not the Giants knew about Wilson’s injury, the revelation of such news adds to an already large pile of questionably managed injuries by the Giants in 2025.

Following Wilson’s tenure as the Giants’ starting QB, the club’s 2025 first-round pick Jaxson Dart took over. The decision ultimately proved wise, as the young ball thrower finished ranked 18th on PFSN’s QB Impact metric, while Wilson finished 42nd.

Similar to Wilson, it appeared that the rookie quarterback toughed out more than a few injuries himself. Midway through December, a report released claimed that Dart had been evaluated for a concussion in five of the Giants’ 10 games thus far.

Re-entering nearly every contest he would exit, there was one specific occurrence that caused a massive stir around the league. In Week 10, Dart went down after an aggressive collision with a Chicago Bears defender.

Nearly everyone in the stadium felt that the Ole Miss product would be sidelined for the remainder of the game, given the severity of the hit. However, the spotter in attendance decided otherwise and allowed Dart to continue.

Following Wilson’s statement, will the team be further investigated for numerous debacles regarding injuries in the Giants this season?
