Giants Star Malik Nabers Delivers Concerning Injury Update When Asked If He’ll Be Ready for Week 1

New York Giants receiver Malik Nabers suffered a season-ending injury early in the season, but will the star be ready for the start of next season?

New York Giants fans faced a lot of disappointment this season, but one of the worst things to happen was wide receiver Malik Nabers’ season-ending knee injury.

Nabers had the knee surgery in late October, and the hope is that he’ll be ready for the start of next season. However, when speaking with the media, he delivered a quote that could be a cause for concern.

What Was Giants Malik Nabers’ Blunt Response Regarding His Recovery?

In just Week 4 of the 2025 NFL Season, Nabers suffered a torn ACL and meniscus against the Los Angeles Chargers on the infamous MetLife Stadium turf. Nabers ended up having the required surgery about a month after the initial injury due to swelling, which needed to subside before the operation could commence.

Of course, the injury isn’t ideal. Still, the timing of its occurrence at the beginning of the season seemed to give him a clear path to returning for the start of next season, which would be very valuable to the development of quarterback Jaxson Dart. However, following a recent media session, questions have arisen about his availability to start next season.

Nabers had the following to say regarding his availability to start next season: “Not really sure. If my body doesn’t feel right, then I’m not gonna go out there.”

The quote raises questions regarding Nabers’ progress from the injury, especially since the recovery time for an injury like this is typically nine months, which would be the end of July. However, the extra time could be beneficial for Nabers, who will only be 23 by the start of next season. Rushing him back too soon could cause re-injury, which would be the worst-case scenario for the organization and the athlete.

In 19 career games, Nabers has 127 receptions for 1,475 yards and nine touchdowns. In the 2024-2025 season, Nabers was ranked as the 15th-best receiver in the league, according to PFSN’s WRi. He finished with an impact score of 83.5 and a letter grade of B. He also finished fifth in AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting last season.

Nabers is a significant part of the Giants’ offense and should continue to be a superstar for years to come. Barring something crazy, the Giants shouldn’t be in a position to contend for the Super Bowl next season, which is fine because they’re rebuilding and developing their young talent. It is essential, however, that the team makes sure they take care of Nabers, who is a franchise cornerstone.
