To say the New York Jets’ 2025-26 NFL season has gone poorly under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn would be an understatement, and now an NFL analyst is referring to them as the “laughingstocks of the NFL” in his latest power rankings.
NFL Analyst Calls New York Jets the NFL’s ‘Laughingstock’
PFSN’s Jacob Infante didn’t mince words when discussing the Jets in his latest power rankings, ranking them No. 31 overall after also being ranked No. 31 the previous week.
“Now on a four-game losing streak, the New York Jets remain one of the laughingstocks of the NFL in the 2025 season,” Infante said. “Their loss to the Patriots on Sunday was their worst one yet, as the 32-point deficit they gave up marks the most significant loss of their 3-13 season thus far.”
As mentioned, the Jets lost by 32 points, and Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who didn’t even play the whole game, completed 19 of 21 passes for 256 yards and five touchdowns, and ran three times for 22 yards.
This was undrafted rookie Brady Cook’s third start of his NFL career, and with him under center, the Jets have put up just 36 points across three games, with 20 of them coming against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15.
“Head coaches in the NFL don’t often get fired after just one season, but it could be a conversation worth having about Aaron Glenn. Being down to their third-string quarterback surely didn’t help them in Week 17, but there have been serious flaws on both sides of the ball all year for the Jets,” Infante added.
The Jets seem unable to get anything right. They signed quarterback Justin Fields, who posted a 2-7 record in nine games, completing 62.7% of his passes for 1,259 yards, seven touchdowns, one interception, and four fumbles. He also added 383 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The passing production was abysmal, though, averaging fewer than 140 passing yards per game, including four games with 54 passing yards or fewer.
To make matters worse, he posted a pitiful 69.1 PFSN QB Impact score, which is 32nd in the NFL.
From there, they also traded away cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. They’ve acquired more draft capital, which should help, and they are now set to pick third in the 2026 NFL Draft. According to Infante, they had a 0.2% chance at the No. 1 overall pick.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Jets do this offseason. The quarterback class isn’t shaping up to be anything all that spectacular, and the Las Vegas Raiders, who desperately need a quarterback, are positioned to pick No. 1 overall.
