Tracking injuries to key players is essential for NFL fans and fantasy managers alike. Knowing who may be out or limited in upcoming games can shape expectations. Here’s a breakdown of notable injuries and what to know heading into the week.
Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens
Update 1/2: On Friday, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, once again, was on the team’s practice field and looks good to go on Sunday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported.
Update 1/1: On Thursday, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, when asked if he’d be back for Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, said, “100%”.
Update 12/31: On Wednesday, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made his first appearance at a Wednesday practice in about a month, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. Jackson has been on the Ravens’ injury report for every week since Week 11.
On Monday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh stated that the status of starting quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is dealing with a back injury, is “to be determined.”
Harbaugh spoke with reporters about his quarterback situation, also talking about Tyler Huntley.

T.J. Watt, LB; Darnell Washington, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers
Update 1/2: On Friday, Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt said he was good to go on Sunday. According to a report from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Steelers reporter Brian Batko, Watt said “he feels really good and wasn’t sure if he could say that a week ago. But he’s ‘excited to play’ Sunday vs. Ravens.”
Update 1/1: On Thursday, Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt was listed as a limited participant in the team’s practice, ESPN NFL Steelers reporter Brooke Pryor reported. Isaac Seumalo (triceps) upgraded to full, while James Pierre didn’t practice with an illness.
Update 12/31: On Wednesday, Steelers tight end Darnell Washington was placed on season-ending Injured Reserve by the team, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Update 12/30: On Tuesday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that he was “optimistic” that linebacker T.J. Watt will be available to play in the Steelers’ AFC North title showdown in the regular-season finale against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported. Also on Tuesday, Steelers tight end Darnell Washington had surgery on his broken arm and is now out for the rest of the season, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
Baker Mayfield, QB; Jamel Dean, CB; Anthony Nelson, OLB; Calijah Kancey, DT, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Update 1/2: On Friday, it was reported by ESPN Senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler that “defensive tackle Calijah Kancey back for Bucs this week, source confirms. First game action since Week 2 due to a torn pec. Much-needed help for Bucs pass rush – and Vita Vea’s double teams.”
Update 1/1: On Thursday, Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield was off the team’s injury report, so he’s good to go this weekend, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Tampa Bay ruled out starting cornerback Jamel Dean and outside linebacker Anthony Nelson for Saturday’s regular-season finale against the Carolina Panthers – a game that will determine the NFC South winner, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported.
Update 12/30: On Tuesday, Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield landed on the team’s injury report with a right shoulder injury, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported. This comes on the heels of Mayfield being on the IL earlier with a left shoulder injury.
J.J. McCarthy, QB, Minnesota Vikings
Update 1/2: On Friday, Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who has been dealing with a hand injury, does not have an injury designation and will start on Sunday, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said.
Rico Dowdle, RB, Carolina Panthers
Update 1/1: On Thursday, Panthers running back Rico Dowdle (toe) not listed on injury report for Saturday.
Update 12/31: On Wednesday, Panthers running back Rico Dowdle (toe) returned to practice as a full participant today ahead of Saturday’s game vs. Tampa Bay, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.
Update 12/30: On Tuesday, Panthers running back Rico Dowdle, who has been dealing with a toe injury, did not practice with the team, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported. Panthers head coach Dave Canales called it a “rest day” and is confident Dowdle will be ready to go against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Jordan Love, QB, Green Bay Packers
Update 1/1: On Thursday, Packers quarterback Jordan Love has cleared concussion protocol. But Packers head coach Matt LaFleur announced that quarterback Clayton Tune will start Sunday’s regular-season finale at Minnesota, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported.
Update 12/31: On Wednesday, Packers quarterback Jordan Love remained in concussion protocol, but was due to practice again on Wednesday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero. Malik Willis, who is dealing with an injured right shoulder, remains limited. Green Bay reportedly signed quarterback Desmond Ritter to its practice squad.
Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills
Update 1/2: On Friday, Bills quarterback Josh Allen did not have an injury designation and was taken off the team’s injury report, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported.
Update 1/1: On Thursday, Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who is dealing with a foot injury, did not practice today due to his foot injury and it is now setting up for him to rest during Buffalo’s regular-season finale against the Jets, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Update 12/31: On Wednesday, Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who is dealing with a foot injury, did not participate in the team’s walk-thru, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Besides Allen, S Jordan Poyer (hamstring), LB Terrel Bernard (calf), edge rusher Joey Bosa, and DT DaQuan Jones (calf) also didn’t go through the walk-thru. Additionally, Ed Oliver, on IR with a torn biceps, also had a meniscus cleanup.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been dealing with a foot injury and played through it on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. There is a chance that Allen doesn’t play too much against the New York Jets since the Bills have already clinched a playoff spot.
On Monday, Bills reporter Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com posted a video from Allen on Sunday, sharing his thoughts on whether he will play next weekend.
“The Josh Allen foot injury is definitely a concern with the playoffs just 12 days away, but he did move pretty well on this run, considering the injury,” Parrino wrote. “Can’t imagine he plays more than a snap against the Jets this week. Why not use the week to rest the injury?”

According to the PFSN’s QB Impact metrics, Allen has an impact score of 89.9 and grades out to a B+. For the season, Allen has 3,406 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
Chris Olave, WR, New Orleans Saints
Update 1/1: Saints wide receiver Chris Olave will be out Sunday after doctors discovered a blood clot in his lung, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported. Olave has no prior history with blood clots, and he now is expected to be sidelined for about a month before being ready for the off-season program.
George Kittle, TE, San Francisco 49ers
Update 12/31: On Wednesday, 49ers tight end George Kittle, who has been dealing with an ankle injury, was asked how he felt, according to ESPN NFL reporter Nick Wagoner. “Fabulous. Great position for Saturday night to punch a one seed. So just with that, I’m doing fantastic.” Asked whether his expectation is that he will play against Seattle, Kittle said, “Absolutely.”
Sauce Gardner, CB; Will Mallory, TE, Indianapolis Colts
Update 1/2: On Friday, Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner and tight end Will Mallory were ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported. Gardner is dealing with a calf injury, while Mallory is dealing with a situation with his lung.
Tyler Higbee, TE; Kyren Williams, RB; Davante Adams, WR; Jarquez Hunter, RB, Los Angeles Rams
Update 1/2: On Friday, Rams head coach Sean McVay said that running back Kyren Williams will be listed as questionable, but McVay indicated he’d likely play, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Also, tight end Tyler Higbee is expected to be activated off IR in advance of Sunday.
Update 12/31: On Wednesday, the Rams opened the 21-day practice window for TE Tyler Higbee (ankle) to return from IR, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.
On Monday, the Los Angeles Rams indicated that wide receiver Davante Adams and running back Jarquez Hunter will be among the team’s inactive players on Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons.

Update 12/31: On Wednesday, Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will not play in the team’s final regular season game in Los Angeles, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
On Monday, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon revealed that wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. suffered a foot injury in Sunday’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. It’s on his other foot, though, not the one where he’s been dealing with a heel injury.
Gannon also said that Harrison would play in the team’s season finale “if he is healthy enough to play.”
