The Los Angeles Chargers continue to fight for a playoff spot, currently second in the AFC West with an 9-4 record, behind the Denver Broncos. The Chargers have one of the most demanding remaining schedules in the NFL, but they possess enough talent to make the postseason.
What Are The Chargers’ Playoff Chances?
Los Angeles opened the season with authority, stacking three straight wins over the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and Broncos to seize an early lead in the AFC West. Their momentum stalled in Weeks 4 and 5, however, when they suffered unexpected losses to the struggling New York Giants and Washington Commanders.
Even so, the Chargers have remained firmly in the postseason mix. Coming into Week 13, Los Angeles dropped only one of their last five matchups. Kansas City’s loss on Sunday, which pushed the Chiefs to 6–7, further made the road easier for L.A. to the January football.

Heading into their Monday Night Football showdown with the Eagles, the Chargers’ chances to make the playoffs sat at 65.6%, according to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor, with a 7.5% chance of overtaking the 11–2 Broncos for the division crown.

A win over the Eagles has dramatically strengthened their position, boosting their playoff odds to 78% and the chances of winning the division to 15.50%. The Chiefs’ chances of making the playoffs are now at just 5.40%.
At 9-4, the Chargers currently are ahead of the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts. They still have a game remaining against the Texans, so Los Angeles can still easily make the postseason.
Talent isn’t the issue. The Chargers’ offense ranks 20th in PFSN’s Offensive Impact metric. While Justin Herbert has been uneven at times, as his 11 interceptions reflect, he has also delivered 22 passing touchdowns and added another on the ground. The defense has been even more impressive, placing eighth in PFSN’s Defensive Impact metric and fourth in sack rate, giving the team a stable foundation to lean on down the stretch.
The road may be difficult, but Los Angeles remains firmly in control of its destiny. With consistency and sharper execution in the final weeks, the Chargers have every opportunity to punch their ticket to the playoffs.
Here are the Chargers’ remaining fixtures for the season:
- Week 15: at Kansas City Chiefs
- Week 16: at Dallas Cowboys
- Week 17: vs. Houston Texans
- Week 18: at Denver Broncos
