After a season to remember in 2024, the Detroit Lions regressed to the mean with a 7-5 record through 13 weeks in 2025. While they sit behind the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, there are still five games left to jostle back into playoff position.
After a breakout campaign in 2024, wide receiver Jameson Williams has continued to excel for the Lions’ offense with another productive season this year. However, through two quarters against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football in Week 14, Williams has been held in check.
What Happened to Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams?
No, Williams is not hurt; in fact, he’s played in all 12 games for the Lions this season. He’s had several big outings for Detroit this season, including one against the Packers on Thanksgiving in Week 13. However, he’s struggled to get much going against the Cowboys in Week 14.
As the Lions head to the locker room, Lions quarterback Jared Goff has targeted Williams three times, with the wideout catching one for 25 yards to convert a second and 17 late in the second quarter. He also ran one time for seven yards.

Heading into Week 14, Williams caught 38 of 63 targets for 706 yards and six touchdowns. While he wasn’t able to record a catch against the New York Giants in Week 12, he responded with a massive outing against the Packers on Thanksgiving, catching seven passes for 144 yards and a touchdown. While that came in Amon-Ra St. Brown’s absence, it was still a huge performance.
While the offense has faltered at times this season, Detroit has been solid overall. According to PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, the Lions have the eighth-ranked unit in the NFL with an impact score of 82.4.
As for PFSN’s WR Impact metric, Williams sits well below fellow Lions wide receiver St. Brown, who sits at fifth in the league with an impact score of 86.4. However, Williams still fares pretty well, sitting right outside the top 20 at 21 with an impact score of 80.4.
While the Lions have a comfortable 20-9 lead at halftime, there’s still thirty minutes left against an offense that has overcome a 21-point deficit this season.
Keeping their foot on the gas offensively will be vital, and that includes getting Williams more involved in the offensive game plan. The rushing game is firing on all cylinders as usual, but getting Goff and the passing game back on track is vital down the stretch.
