Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco was looking to make a difference when the Chiefs played on Thanksgiving Day against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The Chiefs jumped out to a 14-10 lead in the second quarter, yet Pacheco had not played a significant role in the Kansas City offense up to that point. Dallas, though, took the lead at 17-14 on a Malik Davis touchdown run. That’s where the score stood at halftime as the Cowboys fended off a late drive on offense by Kansas City.
Is Chiefs’ RB Isiah Pacheco Injured?
As the first half was coming to an end, Pacheco only had one carry for nine yards. Kareem Hunt has been tops for Kansas City in the run game with five carries for 30 yards.
After scoring a quick touchdown in the first quarter, a whole host of Chiefs players gathered in the end zone and celebrated.

Heading into Thursday’s game in Dallas, Pacheco had 78 carries for 329 yards and one touchdown. Pacheco was a seventh-round pick (No. 251 overall) out of Rutgers by the Chiefs in the 2022 NFL Draft. According to the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, Pacheco has an impact score of 78.6 and grades out to a C+.
In three-plus seasons with Kansas City, Pacheco has 536 carries for 2,404 career yards and 14 touchdown runs. Pacheco missed the last three games for the Chiefs as he was dealing with a knee injury.
He suffered the injury in Week 8 and was out. Pacheco had two limited training sessions ahead of Kansas City’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, but was ruled out of that game. Pacheco had three full practices ahead of the Chiefs’ game against the Cowboys and was taken off the Injured Reserve list on Wednesday, making him good to go on Thanksgiving Day.
With Pacheco back, it gives Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes another weapon in the Chiefs’ backfield. He’s probably glad to see Pacheco in his familiar running back spot. Pacheco will need to pick it up in the second half if Kansas City is going to pick up the road victory.
Kansas City’s playoff hopes are hanging by a thread as it entered Thursday’s game with a 6-5 overall record. Chiefs fans will be watching to see what happens in the second half.
