The Detroit Lions were looking to not only improve their overall season record but their NFL playoff chances when facing the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Day at Ford Field in Detroit.
But it was a tough day for Lions quarterback Jared Goff as Packers defensive standout Micah Parsons caused him a lot of trouble. In the end, the Packers beat Detroit 31-24 in front of a rowdy Lions home crowd.
What Are Detroit Lions’ NFL Playoff Chances?
With the loss, according to the PFSN NFL Playoff Predictor, the Lions now have a 44.80% chance of making the NFL playoffs. As for winning the NFC North Division, Detroit’s chances fall to 8.50%.

Goff was 20-of-26 passing for 256 yards and two touchdowns. He also had one long run downfield for 24 yards. Yet Parsons was really a problem for Detroit’s offensive line to handle. Parsons had eight total tackles, including 2.5 sacks.

Jameson Williams led the Lions in receiving with seven catches for 144 yards and one touchdown. Jahmyr Gibbs had 20 carries for 68 yards and no touchdowns, while David Montgomery also had eight carries for 32 yards. Isaac TeSlaa had a touchdown catch in the game for Detroit.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 7-5 overall, but they’ve gone 4-2 at Ford Field. The Packers saw their overall record improve to 8-3-1, with a 4-1-1 road record, away from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
How does the Lions offense look metrics-wise right now? According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Lions have an impact score of 82.1 and grade out to a B-. As for the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Goff has an impact score of 78.4 and grades out to a C+.
Losing at home, especially on Thanksgiving Day, will not sit well with Lions head coach Dan Campbell and his team. Detroit had some awful games in front of its home fans on this holiday and had hoped to change the tune against its longtime rival, Green Bay.
For Detroit, it’s back to the drawing board as the Lions will look to get back into the win column next week against the Dallas Cowboys.
