NFL Fans Offer Advice for Justin Fields After Being Benched by Jets

NFL insider Dianna Russini recently reported that the Jets plan to bench Fields in favor of Tyrod Taylor ahead of their Week 12 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. This comes following another lackluster performance in their defeat to the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football.

Many fans responded to the news, offering a solution that could potentially maximize his skill set and extend his career in a different position. They urged him to be utilized in a similar role to Taysom Hill for the New Orleans Saints as essentially a Swiss Army knife in their offense.

“I feel like this was Fields’ last chance. If he wants to stick around, he should be on that Taysom Hill plan moving forward,” said one.

“Justin Fields needs to be converted to a RB or a gadget guy like Taysom Hill,” stated another.

“His career is over. Only way to save it is to become Taysom 2.0,” added another.

Other fans chimed in with less optimism about the situation. They simply suggested that his time as a starter in the NFL has come to an end after failing to secure a long-term job with three different teams .

“It had to happen. It’s just completely over for Justin Fields,” responded one.

“Justin Fields will never start at QB again unless somebody gets hurt. Career backup from this point forward,” replied another.

“The Jets stink, but Justin Fields has probably seen his last opportunity,” posted another.

He currently ranks 28th of 38 qualified quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings for this season, demonstrating his struggles with his new team. The Jets have just a 2-8 record this year, though both of them came in the past three weeks. They had an active two-game winning streak prior to their loss against the Patriots.

Where Fields really shines is as a rusher, where he averages nearly 43 yards per game this year and 49 per game in his career. He has also totaled 23 rushing touchdowns in 59 career games. This contributes to why some fans are urging Fields to take on the Hill role, where his strengths can be highlighted rather than serving as a traditional quarterback, where he has struggled severely.
