Cincinnati vs. Utah Prediction

The Utes will reportedly welcome back starting quarterback Devon Dampier, who missed last week’s game against Colorado with an injury. He’s one of the most electrifying players in all of college football, boasting a dual-threat ability that poses a significant threat to defenses.

He’s been better than expected throwing the football this season as well, completing 68.7% of his passes for 13 touchdowns versus just four interceptions.

On the other side, the Bearcats enter with one of the most underrated passers in the sport: Brendan Sorsby. He’s thrown 20 touchdowns to just a single interception while rushing for over 400 yards and seven touchdowns. Right now, he’s a dark-horse candidate to steal away the Heisman Trophy if Cincinnati completes a late-season run to the CFP.

At 7-1, all the Bearcats have to do is win out, and they should make it in.

Cincinnati’s defense is no slouch either, as senior linebacker Jake Golday has had an excellent season. He leads the team with 67 total tackles, along with 3.5 sacks, and is well on his way to being honored as an All-Big 12 performer.

After a 20-17 loss in the season-opener to Nebraska, the Bearcats have rolled off seven straight victories. Only one (Iowa State) has come against a ranked opponent; however, both the offense and defense have been clicking on all cylinders.

Meanwhile, the Utes have taken two losses in Big 12 play, to the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the BYU Cougars. They’ve rolled in their three wins in conference play, defeating Colorado, West Virginia, and Arizona State by a combined score of 143-31.

Dampier has been the headliner along with talented running back Wayshawn Parker. He’s been extremely explosive, averaging over seven yards per carry and scoring six total touchdowns.

Though Cincinnati has been excellent in its last seven games, the home-field advantage of Rice-Eccles Stadium after dark is going to be too much for them to handle. The Utes are no joke and will finally show up against a fellow ranked team and secure their most significant victory of the season on Saturday night.

It’ll come at the expense of the scoreboard, as many points will be scored. College football fans, you’ll want to stay up to catch this entire game.

Prediction: Utah 38, Cincinnati 31
