Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has found himself fully entrenched as the team’s starter after going through a few rough spots in his NFL career.
Mayfield, though, has found life away from the football field just as enriching. Mayfield is married to his wife Emily and they have a baby daughter, Kova Jade. While Baker receives his fair share of headlines, Emily has also managed to build up a significant following on social media.
So, how did these two end up getting together?
Baker Mayfield and Wife Emily Did Not Take Long To Get Along
Emily Wilkinson is a native of Nebraska who earned her college degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013. After college, Wilkinson headed out to Los Angeles. A mutual friend of Mayfield and Wilkinson introduced them to each other back in 2017.
Mayfield, who played quarterback at the University of Oklahoma, found Wilkinson’s face while engaged in a FaceTime moment with his brother after a game. Mayfield quickly found Wilkinson’s Instagram account, making him one of her 220,000 followers, and finally got her attention.
They went out to lunch together before the Rose Bowl, and eventually, they hit it off, and Mayfield moved in with Wilkinson and her brothers. It just took six months of dating before Mayfield and Wilkinson were married in 2019, according to People Magazine.
In December 2023, Wilkinson went out on her Instagram account and told the world that she was pregnant. On April 9, 2024, Kova Jade Mayfield came into the world.
Back in 2024, Mayfield shared a tender moment with Emily and Kova Jade before a game started. It shows Mayfield enjoying an adorable moment with his baby girl and posing for a picture with them.
While Mayfield was with the Cleveland Browns, he starred in a number of Progressive Insurance advertisements. The ads, which were titled “At Home with Baker Mayfield,” saw him and Emily share screen time in a few of them.
With the Panthers and Rams, Mayfield did not perform well. Even fans’ expectations of him with the Browns could not be fully met by the former Sooners quarterback. However, he’s truly found a new life with Tampa Bay, one he’s now fully sharing with his wife and daughter.
It appears that after some rocky moments, Mayfield has finally found a sense of joy and happiness on and off the football field.
