New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is an important part of the team’s offense as quarterback Drake Maye needs all of his receivers who can get open downfield.
Diggs has been dealing with a chest injury that has kept his status in doubt for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. The teams will square off at Nissan Stadium in Nashville with kickoff set for 1 p.m. Eastern, and the game will be televised on CBS.
Stefon Diggs Injury Update
Diggs was a limited participant in training on Wednesday and Thursday, but fully practiced on Friday. He is officially listed as questionable for the Week 7 game against the Titans.
On Saturday, NFL insider Adam Schefter provided a positive update on the Patriots star. “Patriots WR Stefon Diggs, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a chest injury, is expected to play vs. the Titans, per source,” he wrote on X.
This game will be the first time that Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has returned to Nashville since the Titans fired him. Tennessee just fired head coach Brian Callahan on Tuesday, naming Mike McCoy as interim head coach.
Diggs has played in all six of the 4-2 Patriots’ games in the 2025 NFL season. He has 32 catches for 387 yards and no touchdowns. The Minnesota Vikings drafted him in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Maryland.
Besides the Vikings and Patriots, Diggs has played for the Buffalo Bills and the Houston Texans. Diggs has been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL during his 11-year career.
Maye, who was the third overall pick by the Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft, has been pretty sharp for New England this season. Diggs will hope to help the young signal-caller continue his stellar play.
Based on the PFSN NFL WR Impact metric, Diggs has a 90.5 WR Impact Score and grades out at A-. According to the metrics, Diggs is the fourth-ranked wide receiver this season behind Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the Los Angeles Rams’ Puka Nacua, and the Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Diggs has been targeted 37 times as a valuable member of the Patriots offense. Should Maye be able to see Diggs open downfield in the team’s offensive schemes, look for Diggs to be a bit more active against the Titans. Vrabel definitely wants to have a statement game against the franchise that let him go.
According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Patriots have an 80.4 Offense Impact Score and grade out at a B-. A solid outing on Sunday can tremendously boost those numbers.
Diggs’ Fantasy Outlook
Here’s what PFSN’s Kyle Soppe wrote about Diggs’ fantasy outlook for Week 7:
After back-to-back 100-yard games, Stefon Diggs’ stat line fell flat against the Saints, earning just three targets and picking up 28 yards in the victory.
It’ll be OK.
You didn’t draft Diggs thinking you had a weekly asset, and you probably don’t, but he’s going to be in the mix, and as Drake Maye continues to improve exponentially, the door is certainly open for more.
The veteran wide receiver had a big catch late in the game taken off the board due to a questionable OPI call, and while the yards didn’t count, it was good to see Maye looking his way in a big spot.
Vintage Diggs probably never graces an NFL field again, but in this offense without a clear-cut top option, he’s got a chance to be a flex you feel reasonably good about consistently.
I’ll have him ranked higher when I project more volume for this passing game: they aren’t going to be seven-point road favorites too often.
