The New York Giants are getting ready to play their Week 6 game on Thursday Night Football. Things do not get any easier for the Giants, who are coming off a tough loss to the previously winless New Orleans Saints. The Giants host the 4-1 Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, a game where they are significant underdogs.
One thing going for the Giants is that the Eagles are coming off their first season loss and appear to lack an identity on offense. Primarily known as a run-first team, the Eagles only received six carries from Saquon Barkley in their loss last week.
The Giants turned their offense over to Jaxson Dart two weeks ago, and he has played admirably, leading the team to their first win of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, Dart suffered a hamstring injury against New Orleans, which could affect his playing status.
Jaxson Dart Full Participant in Practice
It appears Dart suffered a hamstring injury in Week 5, but it will not keep him out of the game. According to Ian Rapoport, Dart was a full participant in practice on Tuesday and is expected to be available for Thursday.
Dart was selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. He is the Giants’ future, and they must be happy with his early returns. Dart has played admirably through two games, throwing for 313 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Also, he is completing 65% of his passes (39-of-60).

His rushing ability has been the most impressive part of Dart’s game. He has rushed for at least 54 yards in both of his starts and one rushing touchdown. Despite the statistics, Dart has not performed well according to PFSN’s QB Impact Score. His score is 57.6, and that is the fifth-worst in the NFL.
Seeing how Dart plays on a short week against a tough defense will be interesting. The Eagles present a stern test for the Giants on every level, and Dart will have to be at the top of his game to give the Giants a chance.
Giants Amid Significant Rebuild
The Giants last made the playoffs in the 2022-23 season, winning a road playoff game that year over the Minnesota Vikings. Since then, they have not been a competitive franchise, having won nine games in the previous two seasons.
The Giants have done a commendable job building their defensive line, using first-round picks and trading draft capital to acquire impact players. Now, with Dart in the fold, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for this franchise. The injury to Malik Nabers is a tough loss for the Giants, but they still have an opportunity to get some young players plenty of reps this season as they prepare for the future.
