At one point on Sunday, the New York Giants led the New Orleans Saints 14-3 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart was cooking on those two touchdown drives, giving the team some hope that it could pick up its second win of the 2025 NFL season.
But the Saints didn’t lie down, scoring 23 unanswered points en route to a 26-14 win. Dart performed as well as possible, but there are some injury concerns around him. That’s not good news, as New York is on a short week, where the Giants face a pretty fired-up Philadelphia Eagles squad on Thursday night. The Eagles lost their first game on Sunday.
What’s The Latest on Jaxson Dart?
Coming out of Sunday’s loss, there are a number of issues the Giants have to fix quickly. Yet there is some concern about Dart’s health.
According to a post on X from NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, Dart is dealing with a hamstring injury. Dart was listed as a limited participant on Monday’s estimated injury report.
The #Giants listed QB Jaxson Dart (hamstring) and RB Tyrone Tracy Jr (shoulder) as limited on their estimated injury report today. WR Darius Slayton (hamstring) listed as DNP. They host the #Eagles on Thursday night.

Besides Dart, running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., who has a shoulder injury, also was listed as limited. Wide receiver Darius Slay, who also has a hamstring injury, did not participate in Monday’s practice.
On Sunday against the Saints, Dart was 26-of-40 passing for 202 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and a fumble. He was also sacked once. For the 1-4 Giants, Dart has thrown for 313 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Giants head coach Brian Daboll made a decision to bench ineffective quarterback Russell Wilson for Dart.
Based on Sunday’s results, it’s not clear if Daboll will switch back to Wilson. That’s up in the air if Dart is a no-go for Thursday night’s game at MetLife Stadium. Wilson signed a free-agent contract with the Giants in the offseason, but did not help Big Blue get off on the right track.
Excellent job by Jaxson Dart to avoid a quick GVR pressure, change his arm slot and get the ball on target from an unbalanced base.

Dart was a first-round draft pick out of Ole Miss by the Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft. Dart also played college ball for USC before transferring to Ole Miss. New York got him in the hopes that he could maybe provide a little more Ole Miss magic.
Who did the Giants have at quarterback who also played at Ole Miss? None other than Eli Manning, who was pretty good at QB1 for the Giants in his playing days.
