The Miami Dolphins won their first game of the season on Monday Night Football, but it came at a considerable cost. Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a gruesome left knee injury in the third quarter of the Dolphins’ 27-21 victory over the New York Jets, and has now been confirmed to be out for the rest of the season.
Tyreek Hill Shares Update After Scary Week 4 Injury
Hill secured a 10-yard pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on a crucial third down, but his leg twisted awkwardly as Malachi Moore brought him down. The play gave Miami a fresh set of downs, but left Hill writhing in pain on the turf. He was eventually carted off the field.
After the game, it was confirmed that Hill had dislocated his knee and torn multiple ligaments, including the ACL.
Hill posted an update on his status on X. Dressed in hospital overalls, Hill confirmed that he was going to undergo surgery. His message also reassured fans, thanking them for their support and promising to return stronger.
“Alright guys, Tyreek Hill here, the Cheetah. About to go in for this surgery. Keep your boy in your prayers. You guys have been awesome, man. Fins Nation, just the whole entire NFL has been amazing. You know, sending me lots of love, lots of prayers. And I’m absolutely honored, man. You know, granted the situation, but I love you guys so much and hope to see you soon. Cheetah.”

The severity of the injury will keep him out of the entire 2025 season and potentially the start of the 2026 season.
What Hill’s Injury Means for the Dolphins
Losing Hill for the season is a massive blow for the Dolphins, as he currently leads the team in receiving yards with 265 yards after four games. Hill is not only Miami’s top receiver but also one of the NFL’s most explosive playmakers.
The team will now look to Jaylen Waddle to step in as the primary receiver. Running back De’Von Achane has also featured prominently in the passing game, catching 19 passes for 143 yards out of the backfield and 2 touchdowns. The Dolphins will also need increased production from second-year receiver Malik Washington and free agent signing Darren Waller to replace a portion of Hill’s production.
Without Hill, head coach Mike McDaniel may also rely more heavily on the running game and shorter passing schemes.
