The NFL is a brutal sport at all times. But some injuries, as they place, are too graphic to even comprehend. As the Miami Dolphins searched for their first win of the season against the New York Jets, it was one such case in which an all-time great suffered a brutal fate.
Trying to make a catch near the right sideline, Tyreek Hill suffered one of the most horrifying injuries you’ll ever see. Immediately, reactions started pouring in from the football world, with people praying for the superstar wide receiver.
NFL World Stunned By Tyreek Hill Injury
During his stint with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dolphins, Hill has firmly cemented himself as one of the best wide receivers to ever step foot on the gridiron. A Super Bowl champion and eight-time Pro Bowler, his status is secured as one of the best of his generation.
As Miami tried to utilize his talents and find its first win of the season, Hill was determined not to go 0-4. Adding six catches for 67 yards, he played a major role in the Dolphins jumping out to an early lead.
However, his season came to a crashing halt at the start of the third quarter. Facing a 3rd and 8, Tagovailoa made the pass to Hill on the right sideline. Even though he caught the ball, Hill was tackled out of bounds.
Unfortunately, it resulted in one of the most sickening images you’ll ever see as his leg bent in the complete opposite direction. Unquestionably, it brought an end to his season. But the worry could be that his career is in jeopardy.
As the world watched the play go down, reactions immediately started coming in from analysts and players alike. Jordan Schultz was the first to voice everyone’s squeamishness about the play.
Please do not post the Tyreek Hill video. It’s beyond awful and I’d just ask everyone to avoid resharing it.

Taking to X, he wrote, “Please do not post the Tyreek Hill video. It’s beyond awful and I’d just ask everyone to avoid resharing it.” Others, too, were similarly horrified, with Albert Breer being unable to control his shock.
Oh god the way Tyreek Hill’s leg bent …

As he wrote, “Oh god, the way Tyreek Hill’s leg bent…” the vast majority of people were just praying for Hill.
Prayers up man….. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
— Patrick Mahomes II (@PatrickMahomes) September 30, 2025
“Prayers up, man,” wrote Patrick Mahomes after Hill’s injury, a sentiment that was shared by the likes of Robert Griffin III, Chad Johnson, and Dez Bryant. RG3, though, also had some immediate vitriol for the broadcast.
WHY DID THEY JUST SHOW THAT TYREEK HILL INJURY AGAIN?!?! JESUS CHRIST
— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) September 30, 2025
As they showed his injury again, he cried out, “WHY DID THEY JUST SHOW THAT TYREEK HILL INJURY AGAIN?!?! JESUS CHRIST” With a history of injuries himself, it was understandable why Griffin would want to avoid looking at the horrifying scene again.
Devastating injury, that was tough to watch.
— Mike Greenberg (@Espngreeny) September 30, 2025
Even ESPN’s Mike Greenberg was lost for words. As he took to X, all he could write was, “Devastating injury, that was tough to watch.” Even a former teammate, Terron Armstead, who retired this offseason, sent his well-wishes to the injured superstar.
Throughout his career, Hill has had the fortune of being averse to injuries. A posteriorly dislocated sternoclavicular joint in 2019 is the only real scenario in which he’s had to miss time due to an ailment.
This injury, of course, could alter his entire career trajectory. His age, 31, even brings his football mortality into question, even though his repeatedly hinting that he will be alright, while being carted off the field, has to be an encouraging sign.
