Despite having one of the worst offensive lines in football, the Houston Texans decided to make a shocking trade. QB CJ Stroud led his team to their first win of the season, but it wasn’t easy. While they may have shut out the Tennessee Titans 26-0, Stroud was sacked in record time at one point. With little to no help from his O-Line, Stroud now faces the harsh reality of a trade the Texans just made.
Houston Texans Trade OT Cam Robinson To Cleveland Browns, Swap 6th/7th Round Picks
In reality, the Texans gifted the Browns’ Cam Robinson in return for swapping a late-round pick. There’s not much difference between a sixth and seventh round pick, but the reality is, Houston didn’t want to carry Robinson’s $12 million contract. This is a decision that offers no immediate solution to their offensive line struggles; instead, it only makes Stroud’s job that much harder.

Recently, a similar trade was made between the Tennessee Titans and the New York Jets. These pick-swap trades are becoming quite regular, as in that one, the Titans sent away one of their youngest cornerbacks. It’s a trade that the 0-4 Titans may regret, but Houston is clearly unfazed by their 1-3 start. Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero were first on the news.
So far this season, Stroud has received a D grade in PFSN’s QB Impact scale. When it comes to PFSN’s Offensive Impact scale, the Texans’ offense as a whole also received a D.
Through four games, Robinson has an overall PFF grade of 66.3. That places him 33rd out of 105 tackles. His run blocking grade is much, much higher than his pass blocking grade. He’s 25th with a 69.4 run block grade, while he’s 63rd with his 57.8 pass block grade.
Looking at some other numbers, Robinson hasn’t allowed a sack or hit this season. He’s allowed just one pressure, an incredible number for a Texans tackle. He’s committed just one penalty, another huge thing for the Browns to be receiving.
Texans fans have urged the team to get Stroud any sort of help. There’s a possibility Houston has their eyes on an even bigger trade or free agent signing, but neither of those has become a reality. Instead, Stroud has been sacked 10 times through the first four games. Keep in mind, he was sacked 52 times last season.
While he’s only been in the league since 2023, Stroud has already been sacked 100 times. The Texans have done little to nothing to surround him with the necessary weapons to take this offense to the next level, and this trade is doing the opposite of what the team needs.
