Lamar Jackson Injury Update: How Long Will Ravens QB Be Out After Latest Bad News?

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson left the game against the Chiefs early due to an injury. Here's the latest update on him for Week 5.

Shockingly, the Baltimore Ravens are off to a 1-3 start. While their schedule has proven to be difficult, quarterback Lamar Jackson hasn’t been able to guide his team to the successful starts they’ve seen in the past. With plenty of games yet to be played, the Ravens are wondering how many, if any, of those are going to have to be played without Jackson.

Latest Update on Lamar Jackson’s Injury

Ravens fans already had a tough day when they were trailing to the Kansas City Chiefs, but seeing QB Cooper Rush enter made things even worse. Nothing against Rush, but there aren’t many, if any, QBs in the NFL that can play as well as Jackson. He just missed out on winning the MVP award last season, but Jackson knows the main goal in mind is to get over the hump and bring the Ravens to a Super Bowl.

On Monday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that the score against the Chiefs did not affect Jackson’s status. “There was no way he was going to go back in the game. The injury precluded it,” the Ravens head coach said. “There was no way he could go back in the game. If he could have gone in the game, he would have been in the game.”

“That’s how Lamar, that’s how he is,” he added. “But I can assure you that he would not have been able to go back in the game under any circumstance.”

Jackson was listed as questionable for Week 5, and as per the Baltimore Sun’s Brian Wacker, the Ravens superstar is unlikely to play against the Houston Texans.

“Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is likely to miss Sunday’s game against the visiting Houston Texans with a hamstring injury, two sources with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Baltimore Sun on Tuesday,” Wacker wrote. “Given the nature of the injury, he also could be out for up to 2-3 weeks, one of the sources said.”

The Ravens star did not practice on Wednesday, and with how things are shaping up, it looks like he will not play in Week 5 against Houston.

Jackson has done everything in his power to lead the Ravens to victory, but Baltimore’s defense is a huge issue. Through their first four games, they’ve given up 37+ points in three of them. The Ravens have lost those three games by one point, eight points, and 17 points. If their defense had played just slightly better, Jackson would’ve been in a much better position to win any, if not all three of those games.

Key fumbles from RB Derrick Henry have also contributed, as coach Harbaugh knows there are plenty of issues that need to be fixed in the coming weeks. Baltimore may be without Jackson in Week 5 as the team hosts the 1-3 Houston Texans, who just shut out the 0-4 Tennessee Titans.

If anything, Harbaugh could use these next two weeks to continue to rest Jackson. The Ravens have a Week 7 Bye, so he could get three weeks of rest and only miss two games. After further testing has been conducted, the team will have a better idea as to when the veteran with a B grade in PFSN’s QB Impact will be able to return.
