CeeDee Lamb Injury Update: What’s the Latest on the Cowboys WR; Will He Play in Week 4?

The Dallas Cowboys already had their work cut out for them, but CeeDee Lamb's injury just made things much worse ahead of a big Week 4 game.

The Dallas Cowboys’ shocking Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears was much worse than what the scoreboard read as time expired. Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb suffered a high ankle sprain, which has jeopardized his Week 4 status.

After the team traded Micah Parsons this offseason, Week 4 was the main game highlighted on the calendar as the Green Bay Packers are coming to town. Now, QB Dak Prescott faces an even greater mountain to climb, hosting Parsons in his homecoming without Dallas’s go-to receiver.

Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb Already Ruled Out of Week 4

While the team does not plan to place Lamb on IR, NFL.com’s Michael Baca reports that team owner Jerry Jones is weighing the option. Lamb’s ankle injury is projected to keep him out of action for the next two weeks, though placement on the IR would double his absence. The team is hopeful they don’t have to go that direction, as Lamb is crucial to this offense.

As it stands, Lamb is not playing in Week 4 against the Packers. Under no circumstance does it seem like he will go out there in play, even though the world will be watching on Sunday Night Football. Prescott will be without his top target, who was off to a fantastic start in 2025.

The 26-year-old had back-to-back 100-plus yard games to start the season. He was targeted 13 times in Week 1 and 11 times in Week 2. So far, he has 16 receptions for 222 yards. While he has yet to score, the Cowboys know that Lamb is by far the best receiver on the team.

Thankfully, Prescott still has his safety blanket, TE Jake Ferguson, along with WR George Pickens, who has caught two of Prescott’s three touchdowns. Kavontae Turpin is also slowly making a name for himself as he leads the team with 16.1 yards per reception. He has just eight receptions, one of those being for a touchdown.

With Lamb out of action, the Packers still have to face a solid trio of Ferguson, Pickens, and Turpin. Lamb’s presence will be missed, but the team is hopeful he could return by Week 6 in Carolina.

If the team were to put him on IR, now would be the time to do so. Dallas has six more games before their bye week, which gives Lamb plenty of time to return a few games before or immediately after.

It’s clear they still don’t know the severity of his injury or how long he’ll be out. If anything, they could have him sit out another week and return to action in Week 7 when the Cowboys return home against the Washington Commanders.
