How Did Emma Navarro’s Childhood Shape Her Tennis Journey?

Navarro opened up by posting childhood photos showing her playing baseball, swimming, ice skating, and basketball with her siblings. One standout picture catches her brother lifting her up to help her make a shot. In another, she’s surrounded by her brothers, each holding trophies and medals, while she holds her own trophy and a card.

In her caption, she wrote, “As a #DovePartner I love looking back at these moments, remembering the impact sports have had on my life and confidence growing up. I remember that over time, after showing up at practice, putting in the work, and getting a little better each day, I built up my confidence. Not just in my game, but in myself. Which is why it’s so important to #KeepHerConfident and give every girl the chance to stay in the game.”

This post lines up with Dove’s #KeepHerConfident and #KeepHerInTheGame campaigns. For every Dove product purchased through December 31, 2025, the company donates five cents to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, pledging between $100,000 and $150,000 total.

Looking back on those early years, Navarro has talked openly about her non-stop energy as a kid. During Wimbledon, she admitted, “Maybe I was a little bit mean to my siblings sometimes growing up. Not really bossy, but I had a lot of energy as a kid, I think, and maybe I took it out on my siblings sometimes.” Her words give fans a glimpse of how she used that energy in sports and in building confidence.

What Do Recent Setbacks Mean for Navarro’s US Open Run?

Looking ahead to the 2025 US Open, Navarro is likely to enter the tournament as the number 10 seed, coming off a semifinal showing in 2024. Before the singles main draw kicks off, Navarro will team up with world number one Jannik Sinner for mixed doubles on August 19-20.

Still, her recent form has been up and down. At the Cincinnati Open, she suffered a first-round loss to German qualifier Ella Seidel, who held the 125th ranking at the time. That loss kept a tough summer going for Navarro, following her first-round exit at Roland Garros. Wimbledon offered some progress, as she made it to the round of 16 but came up short against teenager Mirra Andreeva. Through it all, Navarro has managed to stay inside the world’s top 15. Now, she’s hoping to find her best game once the action begins at Flushing Meadows.
