Boris Becker and Chris Evert React To Scottie Scheffler’s 5-Minute-Long Monologue
Scheffler, a three-time major champion, shared his thoughts during a press conference at Royal Portrush ahead of the Open Championship. The 29-year-old reflected on how fleeting success can feel, even after giving everything to win a tournament.
“It feels like you work your whole life to celebrate winning a tournament for like a few minutes. It only lasts a few minutes, that kind of euphoric feeling,” he said.
Scheffler made it clear that while he’s grateful for the opportunity to play golf at the highest level, true satisfaction comes from something beyond the game. Scheffler went on to explain:
“And so I guess what I’m trying to say is this is not the place to look for satisfaction. This is something that’s where you can have a great appreciation for, and a great like a great amount of thankfulness for being able to do this. And it’s, I mean, like I said, it’s really one of the most fun things that I can do in my entire life. I love being able to come out here and play golf and compete. But at the end of the day, it’s just not what satisfies me.”
Many well-known sports personalities acknowledged Scheffler’s remarks and shared their thoughts. Former World No. 1 in men’s tennis, Boris Becker, voiced his support for the American. On Jul. 16, the six-time major champion posted on X:
“That’s very deep Scottie…”

After a record-breaking run at the French Open, Chris Evert returned once again to Wimbledon commentary for the U.S. audience as part of the ESPN broadcast team. However, she faced major criticism from fans after bringing up Emma Raducanu’s personal life during Raducanu’s third-round match against Aryna Sabalenka.

Fans were outraged after Chris Evert commented on Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz’s romance rumors during a Wimbledon commentary session. One fan took to X to voice her disgust directly, writing:
“They care more about her love life than her playing as clearly displayed by @ChrissieEvert @espn breaking away from her actual match against the number one seed where she went up 3-1, in the second set but no one could watch, bc they cared more about who was crushing on her.”
Later, Evert fired back at the criticism with a bold response. She wrote:

Though fans expressed their disgust, claiming the media seemed more focused on players’ personal lives than the actual gameplay, a similar incident drew attention. After Cameron Norrie’s victory over Mattia Ballucci at Wimbledon, a reporter directly asked him if he had strings attached to the Brit.
