‘I Completely Forgot the Score’ – Mirra Andreeva Completely Fails To Realize Her Match Is Over at Wimbledon

Tennis fans worldwide witnessed a special moment on Centre Court at Wimbledon as 18-year-old Mirra Andreeva defeated Emma Navarro in straight sets. What happened next left everyone in shock. The young Russian star had no idea she had just won the match.

The No. 7 Andreeva dominated American No. 10 seed Navarro with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory on Monday. Her powerful serve, regularly clocking over 110 mph, and aggressive baseline play were enough to secure herself a quarterfinal match.

Shocking Moment From Mirra Andreeva’s Fourth Round Match at Wimbledon 2025

When Navarro’s final shot hit the net, signaling the end of the match, something unexpected happened. Instead of celebrating her historic victory, Andreeva calmly turned back toward her baseline and started examining her racquet, preparing for what she thought was the next point.

The Russian teenager was so focused on not thinking about the score that she completely forgot where things stood.

“I kept telling myself I was facing break point and was trying to tell myself I’m not the one who is up on the score, I’m the one who is down and in the end I completely forgot the score,” Andreeva explained in her post-match interview.

“I’m happy I did it. Otherwise, I would have been three times more nervous on my match point,” she said with a smile.

While Navarro waited at the net to shake hands, and the crowd erupted in cheers, Andreeva remained oblivious. As she saw her coach, Conchita Martinez, celebrating in the stands and heard the crowd’s reaction, she ran to the net, laughing and apologizing to Navarro for the confusion.

Mirra Andreeva – a Teenage Quarterfinalist at Wimbledon

While Andreeva was busy checking her racquet strings, she had just made tennis history. At 18 years and 62 days old, she became the youngest player to reach the Wimbledon women’s quarterfinals since Nicole Vaidisova in 2007. She matched the exact same age as Maria Sharapova when the Russian legend reached the quarterfinals in 2005.

This remarkable achievement comes during an outstanding 2025 season for Andreeva, who has already won two WTA 1000 titles at Dubai and Indian Wells. Her current world ranking of No. 7 reflects her rapid rise in women’s tennis.

The match took place in front of tennis royalty, with eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer and his wife Mirka watching from the Royal Box. Andreeva admitted she tried not to look at them during the match to avoid losing focus but addressed them directly afterward, saying it meant everything to see them there.

Navarro, who had beaten defending champion Barbora Krejčíková in the previous round, couldn’t match Andreeva’s firepower. The American finished with just 11 unforced errors compared to Andreeva’s aggressive style.

With this victory, Andreeva is set to face Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic in the quarterfinals.
