Several personalities from the tennis world, including Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, and Martina Navratilova, took to social media to pay their tributes to Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva. The Liverpool star and his brother were killed in a tragic car crash in Spain.

Nadal mourned Jota’s death and extended support to his family.
“What terribly sad and painful news,” the Spaniard posted on X. “All my love, affection, and support to his wife, his children, his family, and his friends in such a difficult moment. Rest in Peace, Diogo Jota and André Silva.”

Carlos Alcaraz, who is attempting to defend his title at Wimbledon, also paid tribute to the Portuguese duo, writing on his Instagram story:
“Rest in peace Diogo and Andre. My sincerest condolences to your loved ones.”

World No. 3 Alexander Zverev also took to Instagram to pay his tribute to Jota, sharing reposted Adidas’s tribute to Jota.His caption comprised of a couple of heart emojis.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova, too, mourned the deaths on X, where she has over 400,000 followers.
“So tragic… RIP Diogo… and Andre,” the 68-year-old wrote in reaction to a video clip of Jota’s last goal for Liverpool.

Former player João Sousa also reacted to the death of his countryman through a story on Instagram.
“What a tough moment,” wrote the 36-year-old Sousa on Instagram. “My condolences to all family and friends.”

What Happened to Liverpool Star Diogo Jota?
Jota and his brother, André Silva, passed away when their Lamborghini veered off a motorway and burst into flames around midnight in the Zamora province of Northern Spain. Visuals from the crash site have surfaced online that show police blocking off a two-lane highway with the remains of the overturned Lamborghini.
Tributes have started pouring in for Jota as soon as news of his unfortunate demise surfaced. Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo wrote an emotional post condoling the demise of his teammate.
“It doesn’t make sense,” wrote Ronaldo. “Just now we were together in the National Team, just now you had gotten married. To your family, your wife, and your children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world.”

Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and won several trophies with the club, including the Premier League. He also found the back of the net 14 times in 49 appearances while wearing the Portugal jersey.
