Another week, another disappointment for the Giants. New York fell to the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 34‑24. Now, sitting at 2‑7, the alarm bells are ringing once again for head coach Brian Daboll. Daboll has posted a 20‑39‑1 record across four seasons, and the trend continues downward. There’s clearly a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, but the results haven’t matched expectations.
Looking ahead to next year, it’s clear it may be time to go in a different direction. Here are five potential head coaching candidates the New York Giants should consider this offseason.

1. Joe Brady, Bills Offensive Coordinator
Brady stands out as the top candidate on this offseason’s head coaching market. The Bills’ offensive coordinator has consistently produced high-powered offenses, and while Josh Allen’s talent plays a role, Jaxson Dart has shown flashes of similar potential. Brady is effective in both the running game and getting playmakers into space, and he is a proven play-caller.
While Buffalo will try their best to retain him, the Giants should make a strong push to land him as their next head coach.
2. Kliff Kingsbury, Commanders Offensive Coordinator
It may be time to give Kingsbury another chance as a head coach. Over the past year and a half in Washington, the Commanders’ offensive coordinator has been impressive, consistently producing results. While questions remain about his ability to lead a team, his success running an offense shows he can handle the job.
Kingsbury can execute in the red zone, manage short-yardage situations, and run a system that would fit Dart perfectly, making him a strong candidate for New York, currently ranked 25th on PFSN’s Offensive Impact metric.
3. Klint Kubiak, Seahawks Offensive Coordinator
Kubiak may not stay long in Seattle, and for good reason. The Seahawks’ offensive coordinator, hired this past offseason, has already transformed their offense into one of the most efficient in the league. He builds his scheme off the run, making life easier for his quarterback, and that strategy has paid off with Sam Darnold this season.
Kubiak’s play-action scheme is highly effective and could be precisely what Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants need to take the next step.
4. Jesse Minter, Chargers Defensive Coordinator
What better way to capitalize on a star-studded defense than by hiring one of the league’s top defensive coordinators? In 2024, Minter helped lead the Chargers to the #1 defense in points allowed per game, and in 2025, despite numerous injuries, the unit still ranks 14th. With Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, and Abdul Carter anchoring the front four, Minter has the pieces to build an elite defense.
Minter could help bring back the Big Blue Wrecking Crew of the 1980s.
5. Mike Kafka, Giants Offensive Coordinator
It’s not out of the question that the Giants hire from within. Kafka, like Daboll, is in his fourth year with the organization and is familiar with its ins and outs. He also has a strong connection with Dart and has been solid in calling plays this season. Bringing in an entirely new coaching staff could disrupt Dart’s development.
If Dart supports the move, Kafka could emerge as the lead voice in the New York Giants locker room, potentially even sooner rather than later.
