What Made Washington Willing To Trade Robinson?
Robinson had been a cornerstone of Washington’s offense for three seasons, but several factors aligned to make him expendable. The emergence of seventh-round rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt impressed the coaching staff, while veteran Austin Ekeler provided additional depth.
Additionally, Robinson’s own injury struggles made the front office comfortable enough to deal him to San Francisco for a sixth-round pick.

Since entering the NFL as a third-round selection from Alabama in 2022, Robinson has established himself as Washington’s primary ball carrier.
Throughout 41 games with the Commanders, he accumulated 15 touchdowns on 570 carries for 2,329 yards. His contributions extended beyond rushing, as he added 587 receiving yards and five touchdown catches.
