We’ve reached the point in the 2026 NFL free agency period when many of the top players have found new homes and the trickle of deals has significantly slowed down.
With that said, there are still quite a few notable players who remain unsigned, including several veteran quarterbacks who are generating intrigue.
Which QBs Are Still Unsigned in 2026 NFL Free Agency?
1) Aaron Rodgers
2) Kirk Cousins
3) Joe Flacco
4) Jimmy Garoppolo
5) Russell Wilson
6) Tyrod Taylor
At this point, it’s unclear if Aaron Rodgers is planning to play football next season. If he returns for the 2026 campaign, he would turn 43 years old in the middle of the season, which would be his 22nd year in the NFL. There’s a good chance he would do so with the Pittsburgh Steelers, as his former head coach in Green Bay, Mike McCarthy, recently got hired into the same role with Pittsburgh.
While PFSN projects a one-year, $12.65 million contract for Rodgers if he opts to play, it’s possible that he will call it a career and retire. At one point, the Minnesota Vikings seemed like a potential landing spot for Rodgers given J.J. McCarthy’s struggles and the legendary QB’s ties to Kevin O’Connell (plus all of the rumors from last offseason), but the Kyler Murray signing put an end to that speculation. Now, it certainly seems that Rodgers is deciding between Pittsburgh or retirement.
Last season, Rodgers ranked No. 29 in the NFL in PFSN’s QB Impact metric with a 71.4 grade. Rodgers is obviously no longer an MVP candidate at this stage of his career, but he still graded better than six other starting quarterbacks in 2025, including Bryce Young (69.1), Geno Smith (68.6), and Shedeur Sanders (56.9). As a stopgap option for a QB-needy team, you could certainly do worse.
Rodgers’ 71.4 grade was almost identical to the next player on our QB rankings: Kirk Cousins, who finished with the 30th-best QBi grade (71.1). Like Rodgers, Cousins suffered a devastating Achilles injury that significantly impacted his career, but Cousins is several years younger at 37 years old. Cousins took a backseat to Michael Penix Jr. last season with the Atlanta Falcons, but he ended up playing in 10 games and throwing for 1,721 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.
After Rodgers and Cousins, the next-best options in free agency are Joe Flacco (36th-ranked QBi), Tyrod Taylor (40th-ranked QBi), and Russell Wilson (42nd-ranked QBi). Jimmy Garoppolo didn’t appear in enough grades to qualify for QBi, but the 34-year-old is a solid backup option.
Teams looking for a younger, higher-upside option at quarterback could turn to the trade market since Anthony Richardson is widely considered to be available for the right price from the Indianapolis Colts.
This was considered a relatively weak QB class in both free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft, so it’s a tough offseason to be quarterback-needy team.

Rodgers, Flacco, Garoppolo and Wilson ??? bwahahaha
