Zachariah Branch NFL Draft Projection: When Will the Georgia WR Get Drafted?

Georgia's Zachariah Branch set a program record with 81 receptions in 2025 and logged the third-highest PFSN WR Impact grade in the country.

Zachariah Branch set Georgia’s single-season reception record with 81 catches in 2025, and led the SEC in receptions. He added 180 return yards on 15 punt returns, making him a Second-Team All-SEC pick. That said, the 2026 NFL Draft still has him pegged as a Day 2 selection rather than a first-rounder. Size is the separator.

Where Will Zachariah Branch Be Drafted? Day 2 Range With Bills in Play

PFSN’s Jacob Infante has Branch going to the Buffalo Bills at No. 66 overall in his Day 2 and 3 mock.

“Over two seasons at USC before transferring to Georgia, Zachariah Branch has been one of the most dynamic receivers in football,” Infante wrote. “He’s undersized but thrives in space with elite athleticism and ball-carrier vision that shines when he returns kicks and punts.”

The industry is split on where exactly Branch lands inside Day 2. ESPN’s Mel Kiper ranks Branch as his No. 4 overall wide receiver in the class and placed Branch as the No. 22 player on his big board. That’s a Round 1 ranking on a board that isn’t translating to Round 1 mock projections.

PFSN’s Ian Cummings frames Branch as a third-level talent who just needs continued development.

“Zachariah Branch entered his junior year at Georgia after transferring from USC, where he showcased electrifying athleticism and flashed greatness as a pass-catcher,” Cummings wrote. “At 5’10”, 180 pounds, Branch boasts game-breaking speed, as he showed in high school while winning state titles in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and long jump. He’s an ultra-dynamic return presence with a future as a special teams weapon, but the 2025 season saw him take a noticeable leap in development as a WR.”

The PFSN WR Impact grade lines up with the Cummings framing. Branch’s 2025 grade is 85.6, a grade that ranks third among all 2025 wide receivers. It’s the strongest analytical indicator in his draft profile.

Zachariah Branch Scouting Report: Return Specialist With WR1 Upside

The return-specialist floor is the most important context for Branch’s NFL projection.

Branch arrived at USC in 2023 as a five-star recruit, rated the No. 1 wide receiver in the class, and the No. 4 overall recruit. As a true freshman, he ran 24 kickoffs for 442 yards (22.13 yards per return, which led the nation) and 15 punts for 332 yards and a touchdown. He caught 31 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns on offense. He was a First-Team All-American, a First-Team All-Pac-12 selection, and won the Jet Award as the nation’s top return specialist.

His 2024 sophomore season at USC was quieter. Branch caught 47 passes for 503 yards and one touchdown. The production dip prompted the transfer to Georgia for 2025, where he joined his brother Zion Branch in Athens.

The Georgia year was the breakout. Branch caught a program-record 81 passes for 811 yards and six touchdowns, earning Second-Team All-SEC honors. He also logged 180 return yards on 15 punt returns. Across three seasons, Branch totaled 159 receptions, 1,634 yards and nine touchdowns in 37 college games.

Cummings’ scouting report captures the WR’s evaluation.

“Branch remains relatively raw as an intermediate separator, but his rare burst and open-field talent give him unguardable upside if he can continue refining his craft,” Cummings wrote. “In spite of his size, he’s a tough and steely convertor at the catch point, with exceptional body control and focus, and he logged the third-highest PFSN WR Impact grade in the entire nation, with a score of 85.6.”

The scheme-fit note is specific. “Branch will have value right away as a potentially devastating weapon on designed touches and as a return man, and his quickness, speed, and recalibrative athleticism underscore additional upside as a route runner and vertical threat,” Cummings continued.

The track background is real. Branch won the Nevada Class 5A Southern Regional championships in the 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump as a Bishop Gorman sophomore, running 10.33 in the 100 at the BYU Invitational. That mark made him the fastest high school sprinter ever recorded in Utah. He joined USC’s track team as a freshman alongside football duties.

Branch is a manufactured-touch weapon with return-game value and analytical upside. Teams have been paying Round 2 and early Round 3 for that profile since the Deebo Samuel pick in 2019. That’s the bet.
