Zach Charbonnet Injury Report: Seahawks’ Latest Update Raises Concerns About the RB’s Week 3 Status

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet has been getting more carries than Kenneth Walker III, but he’s now on the team’s injury report.

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet entered the 2025 season with high hopes of significantly impacting the Seahawks’ running game. In the absence of Kenneth Walker III in 2024, he made six starts and rushed 135 times for 569 yards and eight touchdowns.

However, despite getting 27 rushing attempts over the first two weeks of the season, he’s managed just 57 yards and one touchdown. His numbers against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2 were less than promising: 10 carries for 15 yards.

What’s Zach Charbonnet’s Status for Week 3?

Underdog NFL reports, “Zach Charbonnet (foot) doesn’t practice again Thursday.” He is currently listed as doubtful for Week 3.

Charbonnet was expected to split carries in the backfield with Kenneth Walker III, but that could change in light of their respective production and Charbonnet’s health entering Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Charbonnet has 66 snaps to Walker’s 44 through the first two weeks.

The wrinkle here is that Walker was held out of practice, as per Adam Schefter: “Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III did not practice again today due to his oblique injury.”

However, Walker does not appear on the Seahawks’ Week 3 injury report. The team appears to be taking a proactive approach with his usage, limiting practice reps to keep him fresh.

He carried the ball 10 times for 20 yards, had three receptions for four yards, and scored no touchdowns in the Seahawks’ 17-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Walker then ripped off 105 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown and added one reception for 13 yards as the Seahawks won 31-17 in Pittsburgh, his eighth career 100-yard game.

Despite the injury concern, Walker remains one of the more valuable running backs in the NFL. If he can manage the issue properly, he will continue to bring the Seahawks a dynamic threat out of the backfield. As reported by Underdog NFL, “Kenneth Walker III is tied for forcing the most missed tackles (14) among RBs (Bucky Irving and Jonathan Taylor) this season.”

Charbonnet, meanwhile, needs to get healthy fast. The Seahawks may end up relying more heavily on Walker in the run game, but Charbonnet’s importance hinges on his ability to share reps until he can find his rhythm.

In addition to Charbonnet, Nick Emmanwori, Julian Love, and Devon Witherspoon were also absent from Wednesday’s practice, while Derick Hall, Tory Horton, Josh Jobe, Ernest Jones, and Abraham Lucas were limited participants.
