The Myles Garrett trade was the biggest news of the offseason and easily one of the biggest trades of the decade. The Cleveland Browns traded the reigning Defensive Player of the Year to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Jared Verse and multiple early-round picks in an astonishing transaction.
The Miz Shocked After Learning of Myles Garrett’s Deal Mid-Flight
Garrett was a rare superstar player on a team that hadn’t been truly competitive during his entire stint in Cleveland. While the Browns made the playoffs twice, the lack of a true franchise quarterback never made them Super Bowl contenders. But he still provided happiness to the fans.
With the 2026 season unlikely to have the Browns contending for a Super Bowl and in advance of a strong quarterback class in 2027, Cleveland began stockpiling assets to build for the future. Trading Garrett, who’s already 30, was a tough but understandable move.
Even if it made sense from a team-building perspective, fans were unhappy to see their crown jewel no longer part of the team. This includes The Miz, the famous WWE actor who’s a fan of the franchise.
Miz revealed on X that he learned of the trade in the middle of a flight, and after he became hopeful for the year after the draft, the Browns had “ruined his flight” in sending Garrett to another team:
“Not Myles. Anyone. But. Myles,” he wrote. “Before the draft, I buried the season. After the draft, I believed again. And now, at 35,000 feet, the Browns have somehow found a new way to ruin my flight. Please tell me this isn’t real, Browns.”

Anyone. But. Myles.

The Los Angeles Rams sent a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick, along with Verse, to get Garrett from the Browns. Verse quickly became a strong pass rusher, but naturally, there’s a long distance between his potential and Garrett’s production.
Garrett finished the 2025 season with 23 sacks. He broke the single-season sack record in Week 18 against the Cincinnati Bengals. According to PFSN’s EDGE Impact Metric, he posted an impact score of 95.6, ranking as the best in the league last season.

The Rams were aggressive during the offseason to bolster the defense. Apart from trading for Garrett, they also sent a first-round pick and more draft capital to the Kansas City Chiefs for Trent McDuffie and signed Jaylen Watson as a free agent. Garrett’s addition could take the unit to a new level.
