Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark left a long-lasting impact on women’s college basketball. Known for her deep three-pointers, it was only fitting that she became the NCAA women’s basketball all-time leading scorer with another deep three-pointer against Michigan. Iowa head coach Jan Jensen was joined by the former BC Lions safety Tyvis Powell and host Camryn Irwin on the Iowa court, as Jensen talked about Clark’s record-breaking shot.
Tyvis Powell Recreates Caitlin Clark’s Record-Breaking Shot in Front of Jan Jensen
Clark’s 36-foot shot dethroned former Washington star Kelsey Plum, who scored 3,527 points in her collegiate career from 2013 to 2017. In a video posted by the Big Ten Network, Jensen discussed Clark’s shot, standing in the same spot as Clark. The 56-year-old coach also highlighted the fact that Clark wanted to pass the ball to Hannah Stuelke, but she was covered.
After that, Jensen challenged Powell to take the shot from 36 feet out. He took the challenge and stretched his arms before draining the shot. What followed was a hilarious reaction as he walked up to leave the court with his hands wide open.
“If I hit this, I’m never shooting another basketball,” Powell said.

“Time to go, it’s time to go. I ain’t never gotta shoot again, everybody just witnessed that,” Powell continued before bowing in front of Jensen. The Hawkeyes coach also commended his effort, “I don’t know, I haven’t seen anybody do it first try. Second try, because you get your back. That’s who you are.”
Jensen now starts her 25th season as the coach of the Hawkeyes. While she does not have Caitlin Clark now, players like Ava Heiden, Stuelke, and freshman Addie Deal will step up to continue the program’s legacy.
Jensen Starts New Season With a Massive Win
The Hawkeyes commenced the new season with a tremendous 86-51 win over the Southern Jaguars on Tuesday. It was Steulke and Heiden who stole the show, combining for 41 points.
The sophomore guard recorded a double-double with 21 points, 14 rebounds, one steal, and one block in 25 minutes. She was assisted by Stuelke, who recorded 20 points on an impressive 8-for-11 shooting, including 1-for-3 from behind the arc. She fell one short of a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds, one assist, and one block.
The Hawkeyes will now look to build upon this win as they face Evansville, which lost its first game of the season against Missouri.
