Dallas Wings star rookie Paige Bueckers recently commented after LSU guard Flau’jae Johnson went ahead with another viral stunt despite a warning from coach Kim Mulkey.
Johnson, whose lighthearted skits have become a fixture in NCAA circles, posted an Instagram clip where she mimicked Mulkey’s gestures inside the coach’s office. The video drew massive attention, gaining millions of views.
Flau’jae Johnson Defies Kim Mulkey With Viral Prank, Paige Bueckers Responds
Flau’jae Johnson may have discovered that joking about your coach comes with extra conditioning. The LSU guard recently posted an Instagram video impersonating head coach Kim Mulkey inside her office.
Her spot-on impression, paired with the caption, “Kim Mulkey don’t know what she doing, she keep giving practice out,” quickly went viral. Fans enjoyed the humor, but Mulkey was ready with a response that made clear Johnson would be paying the price in practice.

When Johnson proudly told Mulkey about the video’s popularity, the coach turned the moment into a lesson.
“We start practice officially on September 23. I welcome everybody to come watch,” Mulkey told her. When Johnson asked what exactly people would be seeing, Mulkey didn’t hesitate, “And at the end, when Flau’jae’s having to run a lot of suicides, everybody will know why.”
Wings rookie Paige Bueckers caught wind of the exchange and dropped a simple one-word reaction on social media, “Dawg.”

This wasn’t Johnson’s first time poking fun at Mulkey. Earlier in the year, she teased her coach’s love for country music, pointing out how team playlists often ended with George Strait.
The ribbing carried into March, when footage of Mulkey singing “I’m the Happiest Girl in the Whole USA” at the Final Four made the rounds. Johnson shared the clip with her own twist, writing on X, “This lady is not real, I swear.” She has even taken aim at Mulkey’s flashy sideline fashion.
Off the court, Johnson has given Mulkey reasons to let the jokes slide. Coming off her junior season, she delivered career-best numbers: 18.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. She reached double figures in the Tigers’ first 29 contests and added five double-doubles, helping LSU advance to the Elite Eight.

The roster around her looks very different this fall, though. LSU lost all five frontcourt players but quickly reloaded through the portal with Notre Dame’s Kate Koval, East Carolina’s Amiya Joyner, and South Carolina’s MiLaysia Fulwiley.
Mulkey also signed the nation’s top recruiting class, headlined by four five-star prospects: Divine Bourrage, ZaKiyah Johnson, Grace Knox, and Bella Hines. Only four players return, but Johnson and Mikaylah Williams anchor the group.
Johnson also kept busy over the summer, contributing 4.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game as Team USA captured gold at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. With official practices beginning September 23, she will balance leadership duties, new teammates, and the extra sprints Mulkey promised after her viral skit.
