LSU’s Kim Mulkey Raves About Tigers Fans As Students Battle Freezing Cold To Watch Win Over Florida

LSU coach Kim Mulkey was impressed by Tigers fans attending the Monday game against Florida despite the freezing cold temperatures.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey’s No. 6 Tigers blew out the Florida Gators 89-60 at Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Monday evening. The win improved the Tigers to 19-2 and continued a five-game winning streak after opening their SEC slate with two consecutive losses.

With a severe snowstorm blanketing the country, Baton Rouge also received cold-weather warnings, and the day before the game against Florida, Mulkey rallied LSU fans on social media to attend the game at PMAC despite the weather.

Kim Mulkey Raves About LSU Fans’ Dedication

During her postgame news conference after the win, Mulkey raved about the LSU fans braving the bitter cold to watch the Tigers.

“Y’all should do an article because I just don’t think y’all understand in women’s basketball, students don’t normally show up at the games from what I’ve seen in 40 years,” Mulkey said. ” And when I drove up here an hour before the game, and I saw that line, and it was, y’all, it was to Mike the Tiger.”

“Freezing out there. Those kids had to be standing out there for a long time. I know we gave out sweaters or shirts or something, but I mean that’s something to be said for students that will come and support your team. They just impressed me… Our students are to be complimented. And our fans in general, our season ticket holders were here.”

After Mulkey’s rallying cry, 9,793 fans attended the game against Florida at PMAC, and they were not disappointed as their team cruised to a crucial win.

Despite having some of the best players in the SEC and the country, the Tigers have seven players averaging double digits in points this season, with no player taking the majority of the shots on the team.

During the postgame news conference, Mulkey also praised the team’s harmony on and off the court as the key to LSU’s success this season.

“They honestly do things together off the court,” Mulkey said. “And they really, really have a chemistry that is very unselfish. They want to all play now. But it’s not destructive in any way. I’ve never seen them get too high. I’ve never seen them get too low. I’ve seen them do extra on their own… I’ve got a lot of depth. I’ve got a lot of weapons.”

The Tigers’ championship-winning mettle will be tested to the limit in the coming weeks when they face the No. 24 Alabama Crimson Tide, No. 4 Texas Longhorns, No. 3 South Carolina Gamecocks, and No. 17 Ole Miss Rebels.
