Former NFL cornerback DeAngelo Hall didn’t hesitate with his response. He simply commented “HEAT” on the post, validating what Staley already knew.

The collection had three major releases. First was the Air Jordan 5 Fire Red ‘Black Tongue’, which returned to retailers in September 2025.
The shoe celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 5 silhouette with premium white leather, Fire Red accents, and the original Nike Air branding.
The Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, a timeless classic, was also featured. The third pair was the Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Cave Stone and Black’.
The Virginia Connection
The interaction between Staley and Hall makes sense given their shared history. Both athletes are Virginia Sports Hall of Fame inductees with legendary college careers.
Staley starred at the University of Virginia from 1989-1992. She earned three Kodak All-American honors and led the Cavaliers to three Final Four appearances. She was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
Hall played in college football at Virginia Tech before he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons eighth overall in 2004. He received induction in the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 2023.
The fact the two of Virginia’s greats share roots in Virginia is already a pretty strong connection.
Staley’s Sneaker Legacy
Staley’s passion for sneakers runs deep. In 1998, she became among the first women to receive a signature basketball shoe with the Nike Zoom S5.
Growing up in North Philadelphia, Staley always prioritized fresh kicks. “I didn’t really care what I looked like from my ankles up, as long as ankles down were nice, new and clean,” she explained.
Her Nike Zoom S5 remains beloved among sneaker enthusiasts. Many view this as one of the greatest basketball shoes ever made. Her interaction with Hall demonstrates how sneaker culture brings athletes from various sports together who share a passion for footwear.
