During the latest episode of her podcast, “Fudd Around and Find Out,” UConn star Azzi Fudd received personal and career advice from one of the WNBA’s biggest names, Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams, who forms half of the viral streaming duo “Stud Budz.”
Williams and her teammate, Natisha Hiedeman, were guests on the show and discussed topics with Fudd ranging from life after college to how relationships between teammates evolve after graduation.
WNBA Veteran Williams Gives Azzi Fudd Reality Check on Post-College Friendships
Williams, who starred at South Florida before being picked No. 8 in the 2016 WNBA Draft, shared advice when Fudd asked about her upcoming senior year at UConn.
“You about to be a real-deal adult, twin. Like, the relationships are just different,” Williams said.
The veteran guard noted that college bonds don’t always translate to adult friendships.
“I mean, I’m lucky enough to have found me a best friend as an adult,” she said. “But it’s like them relationships that you build in college, bro.”
Williams continued with her reality check, explaining how distance and life changes affect teammate connections. “I ain’t gonna say they ain’t gonna last. But as you get grown, like, I damn near don’t talk to none of my team, for real, that I went to college with,” she said.
She added that the transition feels gradual but inevitable. “Like, I have a couple people I might speak to here and there,” Williams said. “But that bond that you have when you just there with them — it just get different when you get grown.”
The reasoning behind these changes, Williams explained, comes down to life paths. “Because everybody got to go on their own separate paths,” she said.
Fudd, preparing for her last season with the Huskies, said she values the advice. She emphasized the importance of living in the moment and realizing that tomorrow will bring new challenges.
While college basketball stars across the country face similar transitions, Williams’ candid viewpoint highlights the emotional side of those changes and offers a dose of realism for athletes like Fudd.
Fudd is one of the top prospects for the 2026 WNBA Draft, alongside UCLA’s Lauren Betts and TCU’s Olivia Miles. According to Tankathon, Dallas, Minnesota (from Chicago), Seattle (from Los Angeles), Washington, and Chicago (from Connecticut) have the five best odds for the No. 1 pick.
Dallas has Paige Bueckers, Fudd’s girlfriend, who went No. 1 in the 2025 draft.
