In what has been a wild time for the WNBA in general, the league released some news that has gone over very well with fans thus far.
The Golden State Valkyries will be hosting the WNBA’s 2027 All-Star game.

The WNBA has seen its popularity rise, and, at least on-court, the league is more popular than ever.
Due to chatter about the way Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is officiated, on-court altercations, and Clark’s teammate, Sophie Cunningham, bringing the transgender debate to the forefront, the shine has been taken off the good things happening in women’s sports, specifically the WNBA, right now.
With washed-out former NBA players like Enes Kanter and Royce White claiming they are going to play in the league, there have been a lot of jokes at the league’s expense. However, with the league announcing that the Golden State Valkyries would host All-Star weekend next year, the league has earned some praise.

Shabazz was expecting the WNBA to take the weekend to Texas, but he still thinks it was a just decision. “Fairs, thought it would be Houston or Dallas tho,” they wrote.

The Grinch chimed in, arguing that their fans have been so invested that they deserve the game. “Their fan engagement pretty much demands this, good choice,” they said.

Journalist Aya Abdeen, who covers the Phoenix Mercury, among other things, was very excited by the announcement. “We’re so up!!,” Abdeen posted on X.

“Valkyries fans have embraced this team with an extraordinary level of passion and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to see that energy on full display for an unforgettable All-Star weekend,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert.
Obviously, the league’s fans are happy with the decision, which is fantastic, considering how much they are dying for some good publicity lately, with the transgender debate raging on despite no actual trans players playing in the league.
The 3-point and Shooting Stars contests will be on Friday, while the game will be on Saturday. Both will be hosted at the Chase Center, home of the Valkyries and the Golden State Warriors.
Despite all of the distractions, the WNBA is putting out a product that continues to improve on the court, and hopefully by next year’s All-Star game in the Bay, we will only see that trend continue.
