Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is arguably one of the faces of the WNBA. With elite range and playmaking, she’s made her team a legitimate contender. However, Clark doesn’t just use her vision on the court, as she surveys the league and sees talent on every team.
On a seemingly nightly basis, Clark lines up across top talent, motivated to stop her or at least lessen her impact on the game. Yet, she continues to thrive while still acknowledging the talent in the league. Recently, she praised an opponent’s play, and social media offered their take on the observations.
WNBA Social Media Lauds Caitlin Clark for Respecting Marina Mabrey
The league, just like every other team sport, is competitive, with stars battling for wins. Yet, Clark made sure the world comprehended and knew how good Toronto tempo guard Marina Mabrey is, with social media stating their opinions in support.
“Marina’s having the best year of her career and I think everybody across the league knows like how talented and how gifted she is.”

Mabrey, who turns 30 in September, just made her first All-Star. As the star for the expansion Tempo, she is averaging 20.8 points per game on 44.1% shooting in 29.5 minutes each night. The response appeared rapid and strong.

“WNBA really doesn’t deserve Caitlin.” tweeted one user, drawing the conclusion that the league is fortunate to have Clark, who often receives criticism from all directions. Clark displayed appreciation for Mabrey, helping fans form an opinion of the Fever point guard’s motivations.
those secure with themselves and their own accomplishments and legacies compliment and lift others with ease
pay attention to players, ex-players, and media around the league and notice how rare this is when cc’s name is mentioned (or should be) 🤔 https://t.co/xyy7ExoMvD

“Those secure with themselves and their own accomplishments and legacies compliment and lift others with ease. Pay attention to players, ex-players, and media around the league and notice how rare this is when cc’s name is mentioned (or should be),” proclaimed one user. At 10-24, the Tempo is far out of playoff contention.
Yet, as an expansion team, Mabrey continues to give their fans something to cheer about. Some believe that Clark, to her credit, despite a tough year from a physicality standpoint, takes the high road.
Always giving the vets and the rooks their flowers. CC is always lifting up players in the league.
She has receives some of the most dangerous fouls but she will never talk down on the player that did it. https://t.co/bAbKJ3WVIi

Clark has the Fever in the thick of title contention. Meanwhile, Mabrey and Tempo look to play out the metaphorical string. Yet, the latter plays with enough talent and passion that the former took time to appreciate the work. In a season where off-court headlines dominate the WNBA headlines, Clark tries to continue to focus between the lines.
