The WNBA trans debate has refused to die down in recent weeks. Royce White is one of the most vocal members of Enes Kanter’s movement and has continued the rhetoric on social media in addition to declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft.
Now, however, he may have gone a few steps farther than anybody envisioned as White ended up proclaiming himself as the ‘Rosa Parks of Black Trans Lesbians’ in a post on X. And needless to say, a range of WNBA fans have rushed to the post to criticize the former Sacramento Kings player.
WNBA Community Reacts After Royce White’s ‘Rosa Parks’ Proclamation
White and Kanter have both maintained in recent weeks that they have continued to push for the 2027 draft in order to force the WNBA’s hands. The league currently, on paper, allows anyone who identifies as a woman to declare for the WNBA, as it does not define what a woman is in its official rulebook.
And while the reason may be noble, White comparing himself to a bonafide civil rights activist was always going to result in criticism.

And well, it has. This fan claimed White is only seeking attention:
“Comparing yourself to Rosa Parks is new low, even for an attention wh*re like you,” they wrote. Another claimed that White was merely an ‘internet brat,’ and suggested he was doing this in order to avoid attention on some of his other antics.

Another user simply found humor in the situation:
“As a 100% unbiased feminist Democrat, Royce skipped representation and went straight to civil rights icon status. Historic,” they wrote.
One user simply wanted White to change their profile name:
“Change your profile name to Roysha White,” they said. Others, however, criticized both him and Kanter, writing, “With your girlfriend Enes, you’re the Rosa Parks of white supremacists.”
Another user claimed that White was simply looking for another opportunity after failing in the NBA:
“Mad bc ur career didn’t pop off in the NBA. Now u looking for a second chance,” they said.
While some may laud White’s attempt to force the WNBA’s hands to solve the transgender debate, most believe that he may have overstepped, as far as the Rosa Parks reference is concerned.
