Caitlin Clark exited the Indiana Fever’s game against the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday night due to a back injury.
However, one WNBA analyst isn’t buying it, arguing that the Fever superstar did not suffer an injury but instead “quit” on her teammates.
WNBA Analyst Claims Caitlin Clark Faked Injury to Exit Fever-Mercury Game
The Fever suffered a narrow 111-109 loss to the Mercury on Wednesday, bringing their record to 10-8 this season. Clark, who took several hits from the Mercury players, exited the game in the third quarter after tweaking her back.
Clark has been struggling with back trouble since the start of the season and missed a game against the Portland Fire last month due to the same injury. However, WNBA analyst and podcaster Jason Whitlock claimed that Clark’s exit from Wednesday’s game had nothing to do with an injury.
“This is Caitlin in the huddle before walking off the court. No trainer. She got benched. She quit. This is the real story. She HATES Stephanie White,” he wrote on X, while showing a video of Clark and her Fever teammates huddled up during a timeout.

The video came from the YouTuber “JTL Sports,” who was at the Fever game and who also claimed in the voiceover that Clark was not actually injured and left the game because she was upset.
Despite claims of friction between White and Clark, the Fever head coach stood up for her star guard during her post-game press conference. She called out the referees for failing to protect Clark and said that she was being officiated differently from the rest of the league.
“We have a generational talent and a WNBA superstar who had two cheap shots right there that weren’t called. Absolutely unacceptable…” White said. “No. 1, you’ve got to call it. It’s absolutely egregious and utterly disrespectful. And then No. 2, you’re coming in here aware of what happened two nights ago, and that still happens? Absolutely unacceptable.”
White was referring to the six technical fouls and one ejection in the game between the same teams on Monday, which the Fever won 86-77.
Before exiting the game, Clark scored 19 points and dished out 8 assists in 20 minutes. It remains to be seen whether the back issue will affect her availability for the Fever’s next game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday.
