Who Is Yvonne Ejim? A Look at Caitlin Clark’s New Fever Teammate’s Career and Personal Life

When Caitlin Clark was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, the basketball world stood still. In her rookie season she lived up to the hype by averaging an impressive 19.2 points and 8.4 assists per game. But despite her individual brilliance, the Indiana Fever couldn’t make a deep playoff run.

That may be about to change. The Fever are reloading, and one of their most intriguing new additions is Yvonne Ejim, a talented forward who could be the perfect complementary piece. So who is Ejim? Let’s take a closer look at her journey.

    Who Is Yvonne Ejim?

On Monday night, April 14, Ejim was selected by the Indiana Fever in the third round of the 2025 WNBA Draft as the 33rd overall pick. While her name might not have drawn the same fanfare as Clark’s, make no mistake, she is a baller with a serious upside.

She hails from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and has been making waves in both collegiate and international basketball.

She played college basketball at Gonzaga University, where she developed into one of the most efficient and consistent forwards in the nation. Why one may ask? Over her four-year career, she averaged 14.8 points and 7.1 rebounds and shot 55.1% from the field.

Now coming to her trophy cabinet, it backs up her on-court dominance. Alongside being named WCC Player of the Year in 2024 and in 2025, she was also a two-time All-WCC First Team selection and helped lead Gonzaga to the second round of NCAA two times.

Beyond her collegiate career she also boasts valuable international experience. She has proudly represented Canada on the global stage playing for the Canadian National Team at the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. There, she played a key role in helping Canada secure a bronze medal, averaging solid minutes and bringing high energy off the bench.

“I am so incredibly happy and overjoyed at the fact that I get to represent my country at the Olympic level and that I get to compete at that stage. It was always a dream of mine ever since I started Canada Basketball, and the fact that now I am living it is beyond what I imagined,” said Ejim.

Off the court, Ejim comes from a tight-knit family. She is the daughter of parents of Nigerian descent and one of ten siblings. If we look at her life outside of basketball, she has majored in human physiology at Gonzaga in hopes of becoming a doctor.

As Clark looks to take the next step in her young career, having a high-IQ, hardworking, and versatile teammate like Ejim could make a world of difference for the Fever.

Ejim Has a Message for Her Gonzaga Teammates

During her last college season with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Ejim achieved 20.7 points and 9.3 rebounds as average numbers. Her contribution extended from defense to offense throughout all the Bulldogs games.

Following her selection by the Indiana Fever in the 2025 WNBA Draft on April 14, Ejim had one key message for her Gonzaga teammates: gratitude.

“I couldn’t be more grateful to my teammates and all my staff here at Gonzaga for putting me in the position I am at today. To say that I would be able to be in the WNBA draft looking ahead to the start of my professional career, is a dream come true.

“I’m proud of myself and the people that have supported me, my family, friends, and my team. The work is only about to begin, and I am excited for what is to come next!” said Ejim.

With her draft selection, Ejim becomes the 11th player from Gonzaga’s women’s team to reach the WNBA. Her versatile defense, rebounding tenacity and inside scoring will provide crucial support for Clark’s perimeter game forming a dynamic duo that could help shape the next great chapter in Fever history.
