This season marks Cunningham’s first with the Indiana Fever after being acquired in a January 2025 trade from the Phoenix Mercury. Originally selected by the Mercury in the second round of the 2019 WNBA Draft, she spent six seasons in Phoenix before making the move to Indiana.
With the Fever, Cunningham is expected to be a key contributor in the team’s quest for playoff contention.
Returns of Cunningham and Caitlin Clark Spark Fever
Both Clark and Cunningham quickly found their rhythm in their return to the court, showing no signs of rust as they helped power the Indiana Fever to a statement win. The duo energized the home crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse with a confident, high-energy performance that set the tone from the opening tip.
Cunningham, returning from an ankle injury that had sidelined her for three games, played with grit and urgency. She finished with five points, four rebounds, and one steal in 25 minutes of action.
More notably, she posted a team-best plus-minus of +31, highlighting her all-around impact on both ends of the floor. Her energy was contagious, helping to anchor the second unit and keep momentum rolling throughout the game.
As for Clark, the rookie sensation reminded everyone why she’s one of the WNBA’s must-watch stars. She erupted for 32 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, and two blocks in just 31 minutes. Her first-quarter barrage included 14 points and three three-pointers in just 38 seconds, two of which came from beyond 30 feet.
Clark’s long-range heroics, combined with Cunningham’s steady return, helped fuel a dominant 102–88 win over the defending champion Liberty, signaling that Indiana’s offense is back at full strength.
