‘There Are Moments Where It’s Exhausting’ — Team USA Star Caitlin Clark Admits That Fame Is ‘A Lot’ Ahead of World Cup

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark admits that the constant fame can get a bit exhausting at times ahead of the FIBA World Cup.

Caitlin Clark has been one of the most prominent faces of women’s basketball in the 2020s and understandably so. Both her style of play and production on the court are incredibly marketable. She’s now playing in her first Women’s World Cup and with A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum sidelined due to injury, she will have an even bigger role on offense.

Her star will undoubtedly shine brighter than ever over the next two months given that the World Cup leads directly into the Playoffs. With all of this attention however, comes a sense of fatigue and Clark has recently spoken about how she deals with being as well-known as she is.

Caitlin Clark Breaks Down How She Deals with Her Fame

Clark broke down how the constant spotlight she’s under affects her, saying, “It’s crazy, and I think you know, you get used to it.”

“I think at the same time, I almost think about it another way. Like, how lucky am I? This is pretty special and pretty cool, and there’s so many people that would kill to be in this spot and have this type of opportunity.”

“Especially to play for the USA team, let alone play in the WNBA and live out your dream every single day. So, I try to look at, look at it the other way and think about how lucky I am and how grateful I am.”

Clark’s gratitude has translated to her receiving a litany of opportunities throughout her young career.

She signed an eight-year, $28 million contract with Nike, with her signature shoe releasing this October. She’s also snagged endorsement deals with Gatorade, Wilson Sporting Goods, and State Farm.

Clark did admit that there are moments when she gets a bit tired of the attention she garners.

“Sure, there are moments where it’s exhausting and it’s a lot. There’s a lot of attention, but that’s what you sign up for and that’s what you dream of.”

In merely her third season in the WNBA, CC has achieved a brilliant level of self-awareness. She’s also addressed the hate she gets on the regular and has come to terms with it, seeing it as a byproduct of the attention she receives.

“At the level you feel all the praise, that’s the same level you’ll feel all the hate, so I try to stay right in the middle. I don’t really think about that type of stuff. I just go out there and do me,” said Clark on the Pat McAfee Show.

It’s quite clear that Clark is on an upward trajectory in both individual success and notoriety.
