‘They Shouldn’t Be Playing in the Same League’ — Analyst Destroys Angel Reese vs. Caitlin Clark Comparison After Blown Chance at Game-Winner

Analyst Jared Stillman tears down the Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark comparison after the Indiana Fever’s OT win in Atlanta.

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have been linked since their college days and command the same intensity and spotlight even in the WNBA.

While the Fever fans celebrated Indiana’s latest 95-91 win, Reese faced intense scrutiny for missing the crucial late-game layup. For at least one analyst, that single missed opportunity may have officially tipped the scales of the rivalry in Clark’s favor.

Jared Stillman Weighs In on Angel Reese vs. Caitlin Clark Debate After Sunday Clash

On Sunday, the Dream hosted the Fever at State Farm Arena. With both teams tied at 81-81 before the final buzzer, Angel Reese had an opportunity to end the game, but she missed the wide-open chance and sent the match into overtime.

This gave the Fever another chance to fight and preserve their three-game winning streak.

The win extended the Fever’s winning streak to four games, pushing their record to 23-12 and keeping them atop the Eastern Conference, while the Dream dropped to 21-13.

On the latest episode of Stillman & Company, Jared Stillman held nothing back when addressing the comparison between the two star players. He dismissed the main-character energy surrounding the Dream’s star forward, calling her a side character compared to league headliner Caitlin Clark.

”Angel Reese doesn’t understand. She is not a co-star of the WNBA with Caitlin Clark. She’s a supporting character, just like Sophie Cunningham,” stated Stillman. “Reese wants to be the co-headliner. She wants to think that, ‘This is women’s basketball made popular for you by Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.’”

He added, “Angel Reese had a game-winning wide-open layup last night, and she missed it. And I’m like, watching Caitlin Clark, who had 9 assists… would have had 18 if her teammates could have finished. These two players are not even in the same stratosphere. They shouldn’t even be playing in the same league.”

“They’re not at the same ZIP Code. They’re not in the same area, and yet I’m sure somebody out there will say, ‘Hey! Angel Reese is just as important as Caitlin Clark.’”

Reese recorded another double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds on 5-of-16 shooting.

On the other side, Clark led the Fever with 26 points, 9 assists, and 3 rebounds, shooting 9-of-20 from the field and 3-of-10 from beyond the arc.

This season, Clark continues to put up stellar perimeter numbers, averaging 22.0 points, 8.3 assists, and 3.9 rebounds across 31 games while shooting 45.0% from the floor and 35.4% from deep.

Meanwhile, Reese remains an elite force in the paint, posting 15.6 points, 12.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.6 steals per game on 41.8% shooting from the field and 14.0% from deep.

As the league closes in on the playoff season scheduled for late September, hot takes will keep flying.
