Sabrina Ionescu’s Net Worth and WNBA Contract: What Is the New York Liberty Star’s Salary?

Sabrina Ionescu is one of the biggest stars in basketball. But what does that mean for her net worth and WNBA contract?

Ionescu and the New York Liberty will open the 2025 season on May 17, looking to repeat as WNBA champions after finally winning the title in 2024. With the league growing and a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) expected after this season, what does her expiring contract and net worth look like?

Sabrina Ionescu’s WNBA Contract and Net Worth

Ionescu signed a multi-year, $410,060 extension that runs through the 2025 season. She’s set to make a guaranteed base salary of $208,060 in 2025. That ranks as the 13th-highest contract in the WNBA, per Spotrac. With a new CBA likely on the way, Ionescu’s next deal figures to be much bigger.

Much of Ionescu’s net worth, estimated at around $6.3 million by Forbes, is in endorsements.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft signed a multi-year deal with Nike and has released multiple signature shoes, which have been worn by WNBA and NBA stars alike. She has also signed endorsement deals and worked with brands such as Tissot, Bodyarmor SuperDrink, State Farm, and Beats Electronics. Ionescu has also made a digital impact as a cover athlete on NBA 2K24.

Named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2023, Ionescu is also a practiced investor, growing her net worth on top of personal endorsements. She is an ambassador for Kevin Durant’s media company, Boardroom, and a strategic partner in his Thirty Five Ventures investment firm.

During the WNBA offseason, Ionescu, a Bay Area native, also became an investor in and commercial advisor to Bay Area FC of the NWSL. Ionescu also launched her SI20 foundation, aiming to have it equip youth with equitable access to sports in 2023.

Ionescu Set To Enter the Prime of Her Career

Ionescu, just 27, has been critical to New York’s success on the court as the Liberty made consecutive WNBA Finals appearances in 2023 and 2024. She finished sixth in MVP voting, her highest career placement, and was named a WNBA All-Star for the third consecutive season in 2024. Her 128 made 3s in 2023 set the WNBA record for the most 3-pointers in a season.

A top recruit after a dominant high school career, Ionescu attended the University of Oregon and led the Ducks to their first Final Four appearance. She was a two-time John R. Wooden Award winner and the 2020 Naismith College Player of the Year, and she still stands as the NCAA all-time leader in triple-doubles.

Ionescu played for the USA during the 2024 Olympics, winning a gold medal, and also struck gold during the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. After the 2024 WNBA season, she played in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league for Phantom BC.
