When Caitlin Clark joined the Indiana Fever in 2024, the noise around her was unlike anything the WNBA had seen in a long time. She was being credited with bringing in new fans to the league and boosting ticket sales.
People called it the “Caitlin Clark effect.” But this year, that conversation has gone quiet, and now, something far more concerning is making the rounds.
WNBA Analyst’s Recent Revelation Regarding Caitlin Clark
WNBA analyst Jason Whitlock recently took to his X account and stated that the Indiana Fever might be planning to move Clark to the Los Angeles Sparks. He also stated that UCLA coach Cori Close could be the next head coach of the Sparks, hinting that a full rebuild might be in the works in Los Angeles.
The Indiana Fever are planning to ship Caitlin Clark to the Los Angeles Sparks. I expect UCLA coach Cori Close to be the head coach of the Sparks.

At the moment, there is no official information from either the Fever or the Sparks. Still, Whitlock is not the only prominent voice that is discussing the possibility.
Mychal Thompson, the longtime Los Angeles Lakers radio color commentator and father of NBA star Klay Thompson, also took to social media on Thursday and suggested that Indiana may be growing frustrated with Clark and could consider moving her.
“I’m hearing from a reliable source the Fever don’t want Caitlin no more…SPARKS…Go get her…NOW!!!” Thompson wrote on X.
If these rumors were to become reality, Clark’s recent situation could be one of the reasons. Last season was difficult for the Fever star from a health standpoint. She missed 31 games because of leg, quad, and groin injuries. As a result, expectations were high when she returned this year.
Through eight games this season, she has averaged 19.8 points, 8.1 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game. That is a good stat line. But they have not resulted in complete team success. Indiana currently holds a 5-4 record. Many fans are hoping for more consistency from the team.
Another moment that might have fueled the discussion might be the incident during the Fever’s May 30 matchup against Portland.
During a timeout in the second quarter, television cameras caught a tense exchange between Clark and head coach Stephanie White. White appeared to be explaining something emphatically while gesturing toward Clark.
The Fever guard clearly disagreed, responding with visible frustration. Moments later, White sent rookie Raven Johnson into the game in Clark’s place.

The incident quickly became a major talking point across the basketball world. Even former WNBA player and analyst Tamera Young recently questioned Clark’s reaction. She suggested that the star guard’s behavior during the exchange was not a good look.
“We see the body language, and with Caitlin being the head of the snake, you have to be coachable, and your body language shows, and that’s what we saw. You can say I love my coach and everything is great, but the body language wasn’t showing that, and, as former players, we know that is a big thing,” the former WNBA player said.
Situations like the timeout disagreement and the team’s uneven start have helped fuel speculation about Clark’s future. For now, however, they remain only rumors.
