The New York Liberty are heading into 2025 with big goals and even bigger expectations. After winning the first championship in franchise history and posting a strong 32-8 record last season, they’re looking to keep the momentum going.
Breanna Stewart and Marine Johannès are back, and the Liberty have also added French center Adja Kane through the 2025 WNBA Draft to further strengthen the roster.
But the road won’t be easy. Teams like the Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces, and a reloaded Indiana Fever will be ready for them. With the 2025 schedule finally out, it’s time to mark those big games!

New York’s Key Matchups
The Liberty’s season opener against the Las Vegas Aces — the two-time champions (2022, 2023) — is set to be a high-octane clash. After being dethroned last season, it’ll be fascinating to see how the Aces bounce back. With A’ja Wilson at the helm, this game is bound to be an exciting one.
Similarly, New York’s matchup against the Fever on May 24 has plenty of potential. Caitlin Clark will certainly make her presence felt, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Liberty handle the challenge she brings.
Finally, on July 28, the Liberty face off against the Dallas Wings. With Paige Bueckers leading the charge, it’ll be intriguing to see how she responds to the challenge of going head-to-head with New York’s veterans, including Stewart, Johannès, and Nyara Sabally.
