2024 turned out to be a tremendous year for the Minnesota Lynx with Cheryl Reeve’s team winning 30 regular-season games and going all the way to the WNBA Finals. The veteran coach already has four championships with the Lynx and will aim for her fifth when their WNBA season begins on May 16.
The Lynx has retained the core of their 2024 team with Napheesa Collier, Courtney Williams, Kayla McBride, and Alanna Smith all returning. Marième Badiane and Karlie Samuelson should add some additional firepower to a loaded roster, and there will be plenty of optimism around this Minnesota team as they approach the new campaign.
Minnesota Lynx Preseason Schedule
Minnesota will begin its preparation for the WNBA regular season with two exhibition games against the Chicago Sky. Their first preseason game will take place at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on May 6. A few days later, the Lynx will return to Minneapolis to take on the Sky at the Target Center on May 10.
The two preseason games will be vital for getting the players back in shape and should allow Reeve the chance to fine-tune her lineup.

Minnesota’s Key Matchups
The opening game of the season will set the tone for the campaign, and the Lynx will be faced with a challenging road game against a new-look Dallas Wings team. The Wings have added some big-name players over the offseason with NaLyssa Smith, DiJonai Carrington, and Tyasha Harris all signing. Dallas also selected UConn’s highly rated guard Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
July 30 will be a date that many WNBA fans have circled on their calendars with the Lynx set to take on the New York Liberty for the first time in the 2025 season. The two teams met in the WNBA Finals in 2024 and played out a thrilling five-game series. After missing out on the franchise’s fifth title, Minnesota may be looking for some payback when the two teams meet at the Target Center.
The Lynx also play three consecutive games against the Liberty between Aug. 10 to Aug. 19.
