Is Kelsey Plum Playing Against the Seattle Storm? Latest Injury Update on Los Angeles Sparks Superstar

The Los Angeles Sparks will be without Kelsey Plum when they host the Seattle Storm on Tuesday

Kelsey Plum has been the Los Angeles Sparks’ best player so far. The two-time WNBA champion leads the team in minutes played, points, and ties first for assists in her maiden season with a new franchise. However, the Sparks suffered a major injury blow to their star player as they attempt to overcome their rough patch.

Following her recent lower leg injury she has been dealing with, the guard joins a string of names on the Sparks injury roster ahead of their Tuesday clash against the Seattle Storm at home.

Los Angeles Sparks Lose Kelsey Plum To Injury Ahead Of Massive Showdown vs. Seattle Storm

While the severity of her injury is unknown, the Sparks have deemed Kelsey Plum’s condition serious enough to rule her out against the Storm. This marks the first game she will miss this season as LA struggles with a 4-8 record. Plum joins Cameron Brink (knee surgery recovery) and Rae Burrell (right knee). Underdog WNBA tweeted, “Kelsey Plum (leg) ruled out for Tuesday.”

At the time of writing, there is no news on whether Plum will miss more games for the Sparks. Expect reserve guards Ashlee Barker and Emma Cannon to see more minutes in her absence.

Kelsey Plum Has Been on a Tear for the Sparks

In her 12 games, Plum has been the standout player for Los Angeles. The floor general averages 36.0 minutes per game while propping up 20.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.3 blocks.

Earlier, she made her intent clear when she spoke of the Sparks’ objective of making a deeper run in the 2025 WNBA season. Per the Los Angeles Times, “With all due respect, we finished last, last year, so everything that we did last year was thrown out the window,” Plum said during the team’s training camp. “I was brought here for a reason.”

After seven seasons with the Las Vegas Aces, Plum was one of the blockbuster moves ahead of the new season. The Sparks, after enduring a playoff drought after the 2020 season, rung in the changes by adding an elite playmaker to their side. However, their 2025 campaign has run into early trouble with injuries and the absence of a bona fide two-way threat in Brink.

The Sparks have struggled on offense, with Hamby being the only other star staying consistent. Azura Stevens and Rickea Jackson have added some teeth to the scoring, but LA needs more from their bench to stay in playoff contention. Their lack of chemistry and failure to execute in crunch situations have further dented their chances of closing out games where they started strong.

The Sparks hit the road for a three-game trip after taking on Seattle on Tuesday. They play the Minnesota Lynx first, and head East after for showdowns against the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever. They will hope to have Kelsey Plum back in the fold at some point between their next few games.
