Is A’ja Wilson Playing Against the Dallas Wings? Latest Injury Update on the Aces Superstar

A’ja Wilson has been phenomenal for the Las Vegas Aces this season. The reigning WNBA MVP picked up right where she left off last year, continuing her dominance as a double-double machine.

Despite losing superstar guard Kelsey Plum to the Los Angeles Sparks in the offseason, the Aces entered the 2025 campaign as one of the title favorites. They got off to a shaky start, found their rhythm briefly, and then slipped into another slump.

To make matters worse, Wilson exited a recent game against the Sparks after suffering a facial injury. Her status will be a key factor when Las Vegas hosts Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on Friday.

A’ja Wilson’s Latest Injury Update Is A Major Blow For The Aces

Wilson was listed as doubtful ahead of the marquee clash against Paige Bueckers and the Wings. Both stars were expected to meet for the first time in the regular season, but that skirmish will likely see Wilson sit out.

“A’ja Wilson (head) doubtful for Friday,” read Underdog WNBA’s tweet.

Aces head coach Becky Hammon gave a brief update after the game, saying Wilson was bleeding and appeared to have taken an elbow from Rickea Jackson. Hammon wasn’t entirely sure about the contact, but Wilson hit the floor hard and immediately grabbed her nose before exiting the game. She finished the night with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Wilson has been outstanding all season, averaging 20.9 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. With her leading the charge, the Aces are 4-4 and currently sit sixth in the WNBA standings.

Las Vegas is already without forward Megan Gustafson, who was ruled out before the season with a lower-leg injury. If Wilson misses more time, the Aces will have to rely on their remaining frontcourt depth.

That could mean more minutes for former Virginia Tech Hokie and rookie big Elizabeth Kitley, averaging just over seven minutes per game. Despite being drafted in 2024, a road to recovery from an ACL tear in college stopped her from playing last season.

Wilson’s absence will pressure guards Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray to carry the offensive load. They’ll be tasked with keeping the Aces’ offense afloat against Bueckers, who recently returned from injury and made an instant impact in her last outing against the Atlanta Dream.

Dallas has had a rough start, winning just one of its first 11 games. The Aces will hope they can take care of business, even without their MVP on the floor.
