How Sky Star Angel Reese Made ‘6-Figures’ Off of Her Biggest Haters

Angel Reese has revealed how she turned criticism into success. Find out what she has said in the latest episode of her podcast.

The Chicago Sky may have been out of playoff contention for weeks as they finished their 2025 campaign with a disappointing 10-34 record, but that hasn’t kept their brightest young star out of the headlines.

Angel Reese, who has been the face of the franchise since stepping into the WNBA spotlight, has once again found a way to turn public criticism into profit and her latest revelation has fans and critics buzzing alike.

Angel Reese Made a Clever Move out of Criticism

In the first episode of season two of her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, Reese dropped a bombshell: her Mebounds merchandise line has raked in good profit.

“So, the MeBounds. If you know, you know. They tried to clown me for rebounds, and what did I do? I made a bag off of it. Six figures-plus, thank you,” said Reese during the podcast.

Moreover she didn’t stop there but also encouraged her haters to give her some more ideas. “So, y’all can try again, because I do need an idea for some more colorways, so just keep it coming,” added Reese.

Reese has been no stranger to criticism. Throughout her young WNBA career haters have often mocked her playing style and her outspoken personality. One of the most persistent jabs came earlier this year when social media users coined the term “Mebounds” which is a dig at Reese’s reputation for collecting rebounds off her own missed shots.

Instead of firing back defensively, Reese leaned into the insult. After a fan half-jokingly suggested she trademark the phrase, she did exactly that. Shortly after, she launched an official Mebounds merchandise line, with proceeds directed to the “Angel C. Reese Foundation” which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating cyberbullying.

But she didn’t stop there. Reese added another layer of brilliance when she dropped a new colorway of her debut Reebok signature sneaker which is the “Angel Reese 1 Mebounds.”

What started as a mocking nickname turned into a powerful brand, one that not only generated revenue but also funded a cause close to her heart. With “six figures-plus” now tied to what was once a put-down, Reese proved once again that she knows how to transform shade into a spotlight.

Her ability to handle criticism with poise and creativity has not gone unnoticed. Back in August, Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders publicly praised Reese for her resilience in dealing with haters.

“Yeah, I like how she handles the majority of her stuff. I like how she handles. She is doing a good job. She knows how to take advantage of the situation that she’s in, and I’m excited and I’m proud of her for that,” said Sanders during an interview.

On the court, Reese averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists across 30 games this season. Still, things weren’t all smooth sailing. As the season wound down, Reese voiced her frustrations about the Sky’s lackluster performance, which reportedly created tension within the locker room.

Now, with the offseason underway, the question looms large: Will Reese remain in Chicago next season? Her relationship with the franchise appears strained, but one thing is certain that whether it’s on the hardwood or in the business world, Reese has proven she’s capable of thriving under pressure.
